Mr Lee Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Hopefully the truth will finally come out, but it should concern us all that this person did not come forward sooner, if he truly has correct info. CEBU, Philippines - A retired US serviceman reportedly has information of who are the real killers of six-year-old Ellah Joy Pique in Minglanilla. Lawyer Rameses Villagonzalo, counsel for accused Bella Ruby Santos and her British boyfriend Ian Charles Griffiths, said that the retired US navy has already provided initial information to them.Villagonzalo refused to divulge what information were given but said it gives them lead of who the real culprits are. He insisted that his clients are innocent of the crime alluded to them. Villagonzalo said his clients were just mistaken for a suspect. According to Villagonzalo, the informant called them up and gave some information about the real suspects in the kidnapping and murder of Pique in February.“We are gathering reliable witnesses to pin point the real suspects because my clients were innocent of the crime. As of now only the retired US navy who gave us some lead,” Villagonzalo said. The informant called up following his announcement that the friends of Griffiths in the United Kingdom have raised P101,680.92 as reward for any one who can give information to find the real criminals.Villagonzalo believes that the informant is not after of the reward money because he is a retired US serviceman.“If our informant can point the real suspects then she or he can get the reward money and she or he will become a witness by each party,” he said. Markham Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Hopefully the truth will finally come out, but it should concern us all that this person did not come forward sooner, if he truly has correct info. In a perfect world witnesses would come forward very quickly but we don't live in a perfect world, unfortunately. I hope you are as equally concerned by the fact that most of the prosecution witnesses waited until after the case against Berger and Esdrelon collapsed before making their own statements. But there's one major difference between all the other witnesses and this new potential witness, He's a foreigner and being a foreigner and retired he may well not wish to involve himself with the Police and the court system here. He may - as most of us do - wish to remain under the radar and not draw any attention to himself. However he may well have felt that he can not continue to withhold his information any longer and so has decided to give his information. It may also be the case that he has had trouble in actually being able to contact Rameses Villagonzalo - not every household has a phone book and that's assuming its listings are upto date. And cellphones aren't listed at all. But you missed including the best quote of that article: Comendador said they will work first for the arrest of Santos and Griffiths. This is the Police Officer who claimed he was keeping close tabs on Bella Santos and yet she has managed to elude him and can not be found. But I don't think they're even looking in the right place! As for Griffiths, Comendador had his chance back in April when Griffiths was arrested by the Metropolitan Police. He blew it by not providing the Police with sufficient evidence to continue detaining him but instead simply requested (twice) that Griffiths be handed-over to PNP officers. Griffiths can not be re-arrested for the same crime unless the British Police intend to immediately charge him with that offence. And, as far as I am aware, there has been no request for an ad-hoc extradition received in London despite the Prosecutors' statements that one has been made. But even if one were to be made, it would almost certainly fail but shere dint of the fact that the offence of murder committed abroad by a British citizen shall be tried by a British court (see Section 9 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861). Mr Lee Posted August 26, 2011 Author Posted August 26, 2011 Some more info in the news HERE. So I wonder if there really is a tipster. It sure sounds to me like Comendador has an ace in the hole, or is making believe he does, because of his comment. Comendador to Santos: "I'll ruin your plans"“Kita, we should be careful with what we wish and ask for because we might get it and they should be careful if ila kong gamiton,” the police official said.Comendador said that whatever the defense is planning would amount to nothing if Santos would not appear in court. On reports that a certain former US Navy member knows the ‘real suspects’ of the case, Comendador said the claim is only a diversion.“Coming from a defense counsel, they will do all means to pinpoint the real suspects,” he said.Villagonzalo clarified it was not the retired US navy who called him to give him some lead on the real suspects.“It was the tipster who has contact with the US navy. I did not see him personally nor talked to him,” Villagonzalo said. However, he said they contacted the navy’s wife but the latter was hesitant to cooperate. RetiredNavyGuy Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 I would be more than a little hesitant and no, its not me. Let's see, deal with the PNP who gives the impression that any foreigner who is still breathing might be a good suspect, or with the real culprits - or more likely, the business end of a gun hired by them. ...and there isn't even a witness protection program in the Philippines, not that its all that successful in the US. Wow! What a tough choice! Sorry Lee, but if I couldn't get the info into the right hands without my name being attached to it, then that info would go to the grave with me. My dying, trying to bring justice to Ella Joy, wouldn't bring her back. Just raise the body count. Not willing to go there.

Markham Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 n reports that a certain former US Navy member knows the ‘real suspects’ of the case, Comendador said the claim is only a diversion.“Coming from a defense counsel, they will do all means to pinpoint the real suspects,” he said.So from that we can assume that the Police has no intention of investigating this case any further and that they will only consider new suspects if and when Griffiths and Santos are tried and acquitted. Wonderful. Mark

Wonderful. MarkAnd as I have always said, Santos life is more in danger while on the run, unless she can change who she is totally, which I doubt she can since she could not even dress conservatively for the trial, and had to show up dressed so darn sexy and with all that gold on her, and especially the big ostentatious one hanging around her neck, and from that chain. As we all should know by now, Filipinos have the face issue, and the police are Filipinos, so as I wrote in previous threads, if an overzealous officer should find her, instead of her turning herself in, she probably does not stand a chance, and the above story only reinforces my opinion on that. Oh and to Robert, Retired Navy Guy, I do not blame you or anyone for not wishing to get involved if you had info, but there are so many ways to do it without getting yourself involved, such as texting or calling the governor anonymously etc.

What is the governors cell number anyway. :)

Could it be that she has managed to leave the country using a Passport issued in her married name? That's a possibility, wouldn't you think. For all we know, she could be in London right now. And anyone who gives information about a crime here will almost certainly be required to give that evidence in court otherwise that evidence is not admissable. There is no anonymous "Crime Stoppers" here. Mark

Mark Mark you are wrong, I posted not long ago about an anonymous tip line the Philippines had set up for crimes, then there are the action reporters who will refuse to give their source, and a phone call from a pay phone or a throw away sim made to the governors office or quite a few other officials might be better than keeping the info to oneself and letting it eat themselves up inside. I will try to find my post and post a link to it.
