Mr Lee Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 THE process to repeal the Juvenile Justice Law is on its way, said Sen. Vicente “Tito” Sotto III yesterday. Sotto was a guest speaker at the 5th National Convention of the Philippine Society for Industrial Security at the Waterfront Hotel Lahug in Cebu City yesterday. He told reporters the clamor to repeal Republic Act (RA) 9344, also known as the Juvenile Justice Law, is gaining ground in the Lower House and in the Senate. Sotto said many want to reinstate the age of criminal liability to 11 years old. It’s currently 16 years old.
Bruce Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 If I remember correctly, there are some youtube videos of kids younger than 16 in the Cebu jail. I seem to remember an older woman, retired attorney who was trying to represent them and help them.
