Garpo Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Well it does not look like she ran very far and did not try to hide very hard. Shopping at the local SM mall, not something who is on the run would normally do. She either thought she had nothing to worry about or she is just not very bright. Still makes me wonder what took the police so long to find her? If she really was involved with the death of that young girl then it is my guess that it will not take long before she cuts a deal to testify against her boyfriend which will then give them enough evidence to go after him. I doubt that even his home government will do much to protect him if she should admit that the two of them comitted the murder and that she is willing to testify againt him. I see not other way of the Philippine police or courts getting to him.
Candyman Posted October 7, 2011 Author Posted October 7, 2011 I really don't think they have much on either of them ! The whole thing has been a shambles from start to finish, and my gut feeling is the real murderer is close to the little kids own family ! I think Santos and Griffiths are just being made scapegoats !
Mr Lee Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Ortigas Center, Pasig City is in the Luzon area, so it is quite far from Cebu, yet I would have to wonder why a Cebuano would go to a Tagalog area and wish to not stand out, maybe she spoke fluent Tagalog but still my wife speaks fluently but everyone knows she is not Tagalog based on her accent. She should have hidden in some well developed area of Mindanao if she wanted to stay hidden. Anyway it seems Markham was wrong and she was in the Philippines, and I was wrong and they did not kill her before arresting her, so now we can only hope that the truth comes out, be it guilty or innocent because Ellah Joy deserves justice, and only if she is proven to be innocent, as some seem to feel they are, will the police start looking for another person, and if she is guilty and rolls over, as Garpo suggested may be the direction the prosecution goes and I agree, then justice will be had that way. I wish her luck because fugitives are not treated as well as people who turn themselves in. Thank you Candyman for posting the news article. Lee, she is originally from Pampanga so would be a native Tagalog speaker. It's highly unlikely that her trial for the alleged abduction and murder of Ellah Joy can go ahead as only one of the defendants is now in custody. No request has been made to the British Government for Griffiths' extradition despite the fact that we have been repeatedly told - from early July onwards - by one of the Cebu Prosecutors (Jane Petralba), that one has been made. Santos can, however, be tried for the alleged possession of a CD cover which, it's claimed, has pornographic images and I believe that the Children's Legal Bureau intend to charge her with other offences too. Garpo Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 I certainly am not an expert on Philippine criminal law, so my question is since she is arrested and charged with the murder, will she just sit in jail until they figure out what to do with Griffiths? Why can't they just try her on her own without him?
Mr Lee Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 I would bet that her rather large breasts were a big clue because few ladies in the Philippines sport those. Lawyer Inocencio de la Cerna, legal counsel of the Task Force Ellah Joy, said that her arrest would mean that they could start the trial to give justice to Ellah Joy. Santos, who used to have long hair, already sported what is called a ‘Boy cut’ and is now slimmer. Her clothes were not anymore the kind that she used to be seen in when she was in Cebu facing the media when she and her boyfriend were tagged as responsible for the death of Pique. Pura said that Santos wore unfashionable clothes. The NBI agent was however to make out the features of Santos face. The NBI agents first saw Santos inside a beauty store, but they were only able to approach her when she entered a health store.Pura said that at first Santos said that she was Lara Eva Gonzales, but when she was asked for identification, she could not show any.NBI agents arrest Bella Ruby in Manila After three months on the lam, Bella Ruby Santos, suspect in the death of six-year-old Ellah Joy Pique, was arrested yesterday after being spotted in a mall in Manila. She was sporting a pixie cut and had more tattoos added to her body after the release of her arrest warrant.
Mr Lee Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Interesting, the tipster in Cebu knew the exact location she was shopping, so that would have to mean they were in communications, so could it be a relative turned her in for the money? Hmmm Wouldn't that be a kick in the arse if her mother turned her in for the reward. Could it be that she had her mother turn her in for the reward, thus having more money to defend herself? Or maybe just another case where money is the most important thing in life? I guess we may never know, but then again we may. :) The tipster said Santos was in Forever 21, a fashion store, buying assorted clothes. With Santos’ arrest is expected a reward of P600,000, which was announced last month by the Cebu provincial government for information leading to her capture on top of a P50,000 reward pooled together by the Cebu police. Mr Lee Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 So she was hiding and walking around a mall dressed like that and with her new tattoos on her legs, I guess she did not stand out too much. :) Link to updated news story
