Mr Lee Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 So he is married to a Filipino. MANILA, Philippines – Operatives of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) announced today the arrest of a German fugitive wanted for drug trafficking in his country. The suspect was identified as Stephanus Maria Schoellhorn, who is now detained at the Bicutan immigration jail following his arrest in Puerto Galera in Mindoro province. The embassy cancelled Schoellhorn’s passport after being informed by the German federal police about the fugitive’s presence in the Philippines. The German is the subject of an arrest warrant issued by a municipal court in Baden-Baden, Germany where he was charged on seven counts of drug trafficking. Lawyer Maria Antonette Bucasas-Mangrobang, BI intelligence chief, said a team of German federal policemen will fetch and escort the fugitive back to his homeland. Mangrobang disclosed that the German is married to a Filipina, thus he was able to hide here for several months after fleeing his country to evade prosecution for his crimes. Investigation revealed that Schoellhorn arrived in Manila on Feb. 17 this year and was admitted on a one-year Balikbayan visa.Link
