Mr Lee Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 I find this unbelievable for a country that used to be such a great country. I wonder how that compares to other first world countries? More than 1 in 7 Americans is living in poverty, according to the 2010 census, which showed that a record 46.2 million Americans are impoverished. The poverty rate -- 15.1 percent, up from 14.3 percent in 2009 -- is not as dire as it was during the Great Depression, when a third of the population was below the poverty line. The lines are somewhat higher in Alaska and Hawaii. More Minimum Wage Jobs, More Working Poor
Art2ro Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 That's really sad to hear! I know a few relatives and friends in the U.S. that are having a hard time of it, but they are surviving the best way they can! If worst comes to worst and I lost everything I own and became a homeless person, I can survive as long I have few a dollars in my ATM account each month to feed myself and have somewhere to sleep safely and take a shower now and then!
