Thank you Dan for this news article. As long as the "divers user's fees" are reinvested towardsimprovement of the proposed dive site, it could be another diving mecca of pristine and colorfulunderwater world of the Philippines. Respectfully -- Jake

Yes Jake it would be nice to think any fees collected would go beyond some local re-election vote buy scheme. I would be happy if they just did nothing and let the reef alone or expanded its size. Apo island is a prime example the payback is huge.

Still, Orobia recommended that all mechanisms must be put in place before the dive site is made open to the public.
I hope what ever the mechanisms they are talking about include restrictions to preserve the area,proper waste management from an increase in visitors and generally ensure it does not become something with only a short life span dew to mismanagement. Just my 2 pesos worth :13_4_10[1]:
