Steve & Myrlita Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 My question is what if the person released was truly innocent?
Forum Support Old55 Posted December 12, 2011 Author Forum Support Posted December 12, 2011 Exactly Steve. It's murder however you look at it. Are the average Filipino safer? Maybe, but at what cost?
ekimswish Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Guardians seem to be tough guys. There're a few in my town. I think one is a cop. Could it be that the victims actually had beef inside the jail, what with the accusations that the Cebu city jails are producing drugs and everything?
Bruce Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 My question is what if the person released was truly innocent? How do you say "oops" in Tagalog? Or for the younger members how do you say "My bad"?The issue as I see it is not that bad guys get killed with out a trial, but instead are there checks and balances to make sure some father does not ask for a hit on his daughter's BF, or the unemployable brother-in-law is not killed just because he is a bum.In reality, extra judical killings are a good thing in that it is a psychological tool in the criminal world that the more violent members or the 'biggest fish' gets killed on a regular basis. So don't get too big and don't be violent.Remember that post WWII legal system in Phils is modeled after the US system which some time ago took a sharp turn off a cliff when the Bar Associations started to promote getting the criminal OFF rather than seeing that they had a fair trial. This has caused a huge back up and legal one upmanship with the lawyers and their tactics. "Justice" was put on the back burner long ago.....

Mr Lee Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 My question is what if the person released was truly innocent? The ones killed have usually been repeat offenders, so not first time offenders from all I have read and heard. One taxi driver was telling me he knew some who took out the trash and he said they always made sure they were real trash before taking them out, of course he could have just been bragging but he seemed to know what he was talking about. Taking out the trash often is the only way to stop the stink in the house.
Jim Sibbick Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 My question is what if the person released was truly innocent? The ones killed have usually been repeat offenders, so not first time offenders When vigilantes were very active in 2005, the newspapers would report the deeds of those killed. They were always repeat offenders.Regards: Jim
