volstateguy Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 "How do you find our city?" This is a question that threw me off the first couple of times I was asked. My response the first couple of times was...from the internet and reading....to which I got some really strange looks and a few giggles. Of course what I was really being asked is how do I like Cebu. By around the 3rd time I knew what I was being asked and could answer correctly....so no more strange looks LOL. Anybody else experience anything like this? TheMason Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Now that's funny! :23_11_60[2]: Filipinos speak American English for the most part, so I can't think of any mix-ups like this off hand. The one thing I do find amusing is the 'Please fall in line' signs. Not only aren't the people falling on the ground, they're not in a line either. Demeter Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 When I was still teaching Koreans and Japanese, we used to ask the students this question, "How do you find CPILS?" and they would say "On the internet."And when asked "How do you find Cebu?" they would say, "My travel agent recommended it."You are not alone, Brett. :36_6_3[1]::no::bonk:
i am bob Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Love reading these old ones! And I would have to say that the Filipinos were all speaking Canadian English rather than American English... It all makes perfect sense to me! lmao!!!
