Jake Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 http://www.google.co...a91bf753baebb40I guess it's official now.....Defense Secretary Panneta's speech contained this quotation: In addition to the dead, the war left 32,000 Americans wounded and cost the U.S. more than $800 billion. Still, Panetta said earlier this week, it "has not been in vain." My opinion -- what a waste of sweat, blood and tears. Candyman Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 My opinion -- what a waste of sweat, blood and tears. Respectfully -- Jake Absolutely correct Jake ! To what gain ??? The same thing applies to Afghanistan. I have a son currently serving in that God foresaken place. In my opinion, if the world needed an enema, that is where they would put the hose !

In my opinion, if the world needed an enema, that is where they would put the hose !I had the extreme pleasure of meeting some of the most professional military personnel whilevisiting a frigate of the Royal Australian Navy. These blokes took me in as their blood brother.Candyman, please allow me to extend my most sincere appreciation about your son dodgingbullets and IED's in Afghanistan. May your son return home, standing tall and proud for a jobwell done. Respectfully -- Jake
Art2ro Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 (edited) Any war is a waste of sweat, blood and tears, the U.S. government should just use air power superiority and nuke the fanatical SOBs and insure that unstable countries can never ever develop their own nuclear power unless it's sanctioned by the United Nations! Use our own military power on our U.S. borders first before taking care of other country's back yards! What if the U.S. had developed the A-bomb during the Korean War and used it on North Korea and China if only it was before WWII? We probably would have never had a war with Germany, Japan and all the other wars, stipulating that the A-bomb will be used as a deterant against any unruly country then, now and forever! It just could have been an economic war we have today instead, without any blood shed or lost of life! Air does not stay in one place, after you've "nuked the bastards", which presumably includes all innocent children, who will be responsible for the clean up of the affected surrounding areas?

Art2ro Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 (edited) Would anyone have it as it is today and in the past, to sacrifice the many instead of a just a few innocent souls weather they be men, women and children? It's all in the nature of war, but the outcome could be of lesser collateral damage if any war or crisis can be stopped in a short period of time instead of dragging it out for years! Just do the math and count the many lives that have perished over time in the past and of the now present day soldiers dying everyday for their country! If one is concerned of radiation fallout, then don't use nukes! Smart bombs can easily do the job with pin point accuracy! Garpo Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 Smart bombs I can totally agree with. Nukes however is a whole different animal and in my opinion is not something that any country should take. We start hitting targets with nukes then that only opens the door for others to start following the same agenda. You think Iran is not close having their own nukes? You know that Pakistan has it own nukes and is not real happy with NATO right now? I would prefer to keep the nukes off the table as it stands right now. While I hate to see any NATO soldier die in any part of the world. I understand that they are giving their lives so as to protect their homeland from radicals that could someday strike with their own nukes if they are not stopped now. Collateral damage is always a lot worse when it is your own country that has to suffer it. The radicals considered all of those that died in the towers of 9-11 as collateral damage. I think most of us here took it as a whole lot more personal than that.
