Bruce Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 I rode back out the the rural health department building. The toilet is now repaired with a new drain line installed.I was doing a training class for several midwives that are not trained have no equipment, never seen a fetal heart doppler or blood glucose meter. They are really baby catchers / cord cutters.... While I am training them, I noticed a woman with a small baby being interviewed by the RN in charge. After showing the 'midwives' how to check a fetal heart beat with the fancy new doppler I gave them and I left them to play with a patient, I walked back out to the waiting area and saw the woman and baby had left. I asked the RN what was her issue. Well, she has a 10 day old baby and it has not pooped in 7 days and now has a fever and she has no money, so she was told to find money to buy a ducalax suppository for the baby and then sent away! I don't know about you, but for me, that is a sure fire way to end up with a dead baby.So I had one of the translators I use chase the mom down and give her 500 pesos ($11.80) so she can travel to the hospital and have the baby evaluated by a doc and then buy some real medications. Stopped out at the mud slide area where a mother and 3 kids were killed. Every time it rains, more rocks and mud wash into the road and...... people are still living in 1/2 wrecked houses! Looks like gambling to me....Anyone ever thought about what an eye chart looks for the illiterate? See the picture......

Bruce Posted January 31, 2012 Author Posted January 31, 2012 I wonder if this site has a "Humanitarian of the Year" award? :angry:Nope... not me. I hate kids! But I was raised with a sense of right and wrong and do what I must to help out until some other sucker... er, ah..... nice guy comes along that likes kids and wants to take over the kids.I am actually doing some advertizing in the US for a retired man / woman / couple who want to spend THEIR money and work under the charity I have. I have a building, land and a plan, but I would like someone else to work with the kids. My training and main focus is OB/GYN.
Tatoosh Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Good work there tiger. I have a neighbor who's wife just finished her nursing degree including a specified number of procedures. She described a number of hospitals that seem closer to a extermination camp than a health care facility. Places where they clean the newborns with rags and old newspapers. Where the survival rate is not good, but that is simply the way it is and people cry, but accept it, and then have another kid.
