MikeB Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Thanks for copying/pasting the Trafficking laws. Where in the OP's post does it mention hiring prostitutes?
Garpo Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Well I guess they have no problem if they just are looking for a tour guide but that is not usually what the girls in Angles are hired for but since I have never been there I could be wrong. I would think that the OP has no problem as long as he or his buddies do not intent to have any type of sexual contact with the girls. If they do however want or are looking for more than a tour guide then I would be concerned about the law if i were them. The last thing you want to do is end up in a Philippine jail.Just my opinion and my desire for the OP to be totally aware
Dave Hounddriver Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Just my opinion and my desire for the OP to be totally aware I think it is good "to be totally aware". There are lots of valid points in this thread that I sum up as: Its done all the time but sometimes people get charged for vague, obscure laws at the whim of the authorities. You said it best and it bears repeating, learn all you can "to be totally aware".
bows00 Posted February 25, 2012 Author Posted February 25, 2012 I have done some research - and although the plan is exciting, it will be too hard to pull off in just two weeks - especially a trip to Palawan. We are now considering a excursion to Subic instead. And as far as human trafficing, based on what i read, that would apply to every bar in the PI that has Guest Relations Officers (GROs). But anyways I will convince my friends to change our plans to check out Subic area instead. Then we won't need to take any girls from AC with us. But Palawan is definetely on my mind, so beautiful there. The trip is still on my bucket list...

DON'T LISTEN TO THEIR STORIES, you get a girl and she will tell you why she's working there, all the struggles...then you'll start admiring her strength...etc,..etc..etc...then without you knowing it, you will start giving more and more and more....I've learned this from my husband's Angeles' stories long time ago.I am envious of the Palawan trip though! Art2ro Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 bows00,It's good to know that you have revised your short 2 week travel plans and bypassed the thoughts of going to Angeles City, therefore lessening the potential of "Murphy's Law" to affect your vacation, which is a smart thing! At least Subic is more of a tamer place compared to Angeles City, but it still has it's bars, clubs and resorts for your nigh life enjoyment and certainly the women are there too!Just do your research to your destinations and get the lay of the land pertaining to transportation, food, accomadations and sights to see and enjoy paradise in Palawan, your main destination point! Here's a few tips for those short vacations:1. Print out maps with clear defined roads, streets and landmarks just in case you get lost.2. Buy yourself a money belt and zip lock bags for your documents. Avoid wearing expensive watches and or jewerly!3. Travel light if you're constantly on the go! Bring a portable adjustable 110/220 v handheld streamer, it's better than an iron to get wrinkles out of your cloths! 4. Don't bring any expensive laptops or cellphones, you can buy an inexpensive open-line (prepaid load) cellphone for under P2,000 when you arrive. Bring a "Magic Jack" just in case you need to make calls back home, any internet cafe will let you connect to their computers! A memory stick USB may be helpful to you just in case for important information you may need for whatever, but if you have your website that stores all of your important files the better, because you won't want to let anyone else get a hold of your memory stick USB with important data in it! Just have a safe and enjoyable vacation here in the Philippines!

You can password protect your files if you have winzip and zipped them.Having a few backup options for files is important. I print out things like passport, tickets but also zip them on usb, upload a copy to Internet (securely) and have them also on my laptop. So if I lose my laptop or phone eveything is backed up.
