Officials said the victims were freed after a ransom was paid.In January, the head of the justice department's National Bureau of Investigation was sacked for allegedly covering up the kidnapping for ransom of a Japanese woman by his aides.

That's a very optimistic viewpoint and I hope you are right. My reference point is that the authorities know who committed the mass murder on Mindanao a couple of years back. Thus knowing who did it and seeing them punished are two totally different things in this country. I would suspect that the very rich husband of the murdered lady would see to it that old fashioned justice is done.

I can remember learning about the days of Al Capone and how crooked the police were back then... And then corruption was ripped out of the American judicial system... Why can't that happen here? Sorry all but that was a rhetorical question! And I was taught that the American judicial system was no longer corrupt following this time... I never said it was true! :mocking:
