Overpopulation in Philippines is reaching the tipping point. Many of the newborn today are from couples (many unmarried) who are unable to support them.Would some kind of monetary incentive be an effective way to reduce the birthrate?

As influental as money is here, unfortunately, the Catholic Church is more influental. If left to them, the RP will be 200 million and counting.

  Thank you for starting this Topic it is LONG OVERDUE  . :unsure:In my "extended" family I had suggested to the older or married members that I would "assist" in certain $$ matters if they would "seek" medical information to prevent further children.. NOT INTERESTED ,( I would paid for the services)When the girls in the family started High school I OFFERED to have them taken toa"womans" doctor so they would KNOW more about their bodies and "family planning".I even would "assist" on some project for their 'home" to improve it someway..NOTHING, did not want,, (do want to note that 1 girl has already gotten preg and given birth at age 17, the other 2 I am certain are active)that was the reason I had "suggested" that the girls obtain infowas in order to prevent this and obtain more education to enhance their lives. ( off topic)their is a direct relation to the amount of education that a female has to the birth rateThats ok. I had said if my offer to seek information is not accepted , I will have to reconsider any Future offer of help.To this day , My offers of "assistance " or gifts is less than $150 a year, 2. It is a GOOD motive to help others to reduce"unwanted" births or be more aware of how the bodies work(family planning) but as outsiders .It may not be best TO INTERFERE with the ways things are.BY allowing them to endure the hardship, the pain, the disappointment. the lack of Government/church assistance. the maternal deaths that occur in birth , Just maybe . that the people will acknowledge that the OLD WAY is not beneficialThat new ways of living, new means, are way over due

They don't need cash incentives, Just free condoms and some common sense.

Free Condoms. surely you joke, in another posting, one member had given Condoms away, Guess what became of them? Childrens balloons. :540: Common sense? :hystery: :hystery:You could only give it away if you included Beer :cheersty:and then it would be forgotten by the time the hangover is finished

Unfortunately Od55; not a solution but a finger in the dike IF we look at human history, Statistics and facts. ( Focus on the problem not just the symptoms kind of philosophy )The issue here is one of morality & responsibility. Until women learn that their virtue is a gift ONLY to be shared with a man that has the character to take on said responsibility....most sexual decisions will be based on " Emotion " by the young female. Selfishness & physical sex drive of the irresponsible male will be his motive....and little to no consequences of his actions.Sadly, the children & responsible society pay the price and the cycle is self perpetuating. I saw the same thing when I worked the inner city projects / slums.
