Dave Hounddriver Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 True but it can be annoying every time your walking along a road 500 taxis slow down and beep beep I love it. The alternative, in Edmonton Canada, is that the taxis totally ignore you when you are walking along the road. You have to phone them and wait for up to an hour for them to get around to it and then pay them $10 or $20 for the privilege.
dean01 Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 I know him via social media , and he is a pest , making a video of hate is not cool , confirms he is a pest. There are many things people can find wrong in any place , as they say build a bridge and get over it. to post a video is just dumb.

Call me bubba Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 (edited) this post is from a local RP newspaper, it shares some of the other Valid comments made by others Comment 1 is basically an eye opener from a Rp point of view1.While Filipinos can unleash hell on Jimmy in many different ways, the complaints of these foreigners are no less valid and should serve notice that enormous work needs to be done to improve the quality of life the country, and make it truly fun to visit and stay, for tourists as well as countrymen.2.The fact that he recorded his complaints in Cebu City, specifically at the heart of the city somewhere near Fuente Osmeña, should give pause to Cebu officials aggressively pursuing tourism in this part of the country.3.The American’s reasons ranged from the trivial—table napkins, body checking, screeching roosters, wrapping gum—to the valid—comfort rooms that are anything but comfortable, a trash can placed over a man hole, unpredictable traffic, unfinished buildings, lazy, meandering security guards, even unsanitary street food.http://newsinfo.inqu...the-philippines Edited March 19, 2012 by Call me Bubba
Dzighnman Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 I think some are making too much out of this, again I say he is in the film industry and whats the best way to be seen? It was removed by himself on youtube and channelfix have the rights to it. Point validity aside, he is launching a site with many different video productions and he found a nerve he could tweak to get publicity... textbook publicity stunt. Only time will tell if we ever see or hear more from Channelfix... to know if he was ultimately successful. Curious though that the production they have about the 20 things they like about the Philippines (different narrators, same production company), has nowhere near as many views...Another possible perspective is: If Jimmy and his team were here in Cebu, as was reported, serving as mentors to film making educational programs here in Cebu... imagine the real world education in publicity generation his Filipino students are getting.... Like he said in an interview, he never used the word HATE.... he only described things as irritations and that these things pissed him off... and who could argue that most of the points are truly irritations.... he, as with most of us, obviously learned to co-exist with those "irritations". Not only the topic itself is controversial... it is when coupled with a foreigner doing the complaining that adds the other dimension. Playing on a general Filipino sensitivity towards criticism, constructive or not.For me, I am convinced that the video is intended to hijack a controversial topic for a PR campaign to arouse interest in and awareness of ChannelFix... I hope that ChannelFix uses this new found notoriety to produce more thought provoking material of the kind that could effect real improvement to the standard of living for all Filipinos. We all talk and debate about what would it take for Filipinos to improve their standard of living, to root out corruption, to demand more services for their tax peso... well, as I see it, awareness that improvement is needed and possible, a rallying point of sorts is at the top of the list of what is needed..... something like what this video has generated. If the Mayoral reaction is genuine, (aside from the comment about people flocking to the Philippines to see if it is really like the video) then hopefully more people of influence would see it in a positive or constructive way and small changes may lead to more changes... it has to start small and someplace. Why not through a publicity stunt video that kick starts an awareness that improvement is needed and is possible no matter the scale?

Dave Hounddriver Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Years ago, I did a similar kind of video about a town in Norther Canada, called Fort Nelson. I published it on YouTube and the city fathers got onto my boss so fast and my boss made me take it down with threats of unknown, veiled kinds of disaster that he was going to make sure came to me. I took it down.Point is, you can make that kind of video about most places in the world if you look. As to the comment: enormous work needs to be done to improve the quality of life My quality of life is just great here. If I can do it, anyone can. Accentuate the positive and avoid the negative. Try it some time.
