Popular Post Mike S Posted March 20, 2012 Popular Post Posted March 20, 2012 While I agree that many things need to be pointed out I am sure most of you will note that the Pilipinos get VERY annoyed when anyone mentions that there is ANYTHING wrong here in the Philippines ..... to me this is a false Pinoy pride ...... I say false because if they had real pride they would try and do something about it ...... but instead like Tommy's sister said ... "if you don't like it leave" ..... the most typical reaction to someone pointing out something wrong ...... while that maybe a true statement or reaction on their part it doesn't do anything to curb the problems ...... and a lot has to do with the fact that the ones who can make the changes are protecting their own little kingdoms and interests and any change could bring their play houses tumbling down and they would once again be a small frog in a big pond ....... just like with NoyNoy ..... he is trying to make changes but is being fought at every turn ..... I really feel that the average Pinoy would like to see things that could make life for themselves better ...... but as they are powerless to do anything about it due to the greed and corruption they choose to ignore the problems ... IMHO

IMHO I think you're right on the money Mike S! You see those radical students (mostly from UP) protesting outsidethe US Embassy in Manila with their false pride. As I mentioned before, one would shout "Yankee go home butplease take me with you! I wonder if given the chance to make life for themselves better, would most if not allPinoys take the first plane out of the islands??My father who is a die hard Marco's loyalist, never ever wants to go back home. He's seen enough of despairamong the people and rants about the well lubricated corruption machine. I was fortunate at a young age toimmigrate to the States and learned self discipline, self motivation and good citizenship. However, as I still teach good citizenship to my teenage children, I'm beginning to think that good governance flew out the window a long time ago. And now, my decision is between the lesser of the two evils. i am bob Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 (edited) I don't know, Boss Man... I was watching to see if I could detect any fakery but I think he was sincere. It looks like he's just someone who got carried away with his chance to "save the world" and screwed up his chances at staying where he actually wants to be. Not defending but trying to understand him... Edited March 21, 2012 by i am bob

Curley Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 I think this man is absolutely correct in what he said in the first place but absolutely wrong in the wording and way that he did it. If the Philippines want to hit their target of 10 million foreign visitors by 2016 They need to adress these issues promptly, there is no way at all they'll hit that target without some major rethinking.
JJReyes Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 (edited) I watched both videos and the second one strongly indicates that he has been subjected to extra judicial punishment. The plain background; camera on a tripod; the slurred speech; and facial expression indicate he is under duress. Chances are they will suggest he leaves the Philippines and never return. This will be after the swelling around his groin, belly and kidney areas have disappeared. In the meantime, he will remain as a guest of either the city or provincial government in an undisclosed location. He should feel lucky it was not a salvage operation. The wealthy families in Cebu are smart enough to know that the ultimate punishment would incurr the wrath of the American government and Cebuanos would feel the economic consequences. The expression, "Don't mess with Texas" also applies to Cebu. Edited March 22, 2012 by JJR

JJReyes Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 (edited) I don't agree, the American government won't do @#%* for a citizen overseas. Old55 might be right. In salvaging a foreigner, the adverse publicity for Cebu will probably come from Human Rights Watch, an international non-governmental organization. According to Human Rights Watch, their primary donor is George Soros. $100 million of their $128 million annual budget is from the George Soros Open Society Foundation.Human Rights Watch has been after the Cebu government for their salvaging of known, violent criminal offenders. Everyone, of course, denies involvement and promises an investigation. The vigilante group telephones the family, using the victim's mobile phone, informing them the location of the body. If it is any consolation for those of you who live in Cebu, they don't normally hurt or kill foreigners. Jimmy Sieczka was plain stupid to think he could do the video without suffering consequences. Most professional journalists have left the country before a highly negative report is published. An interesting story from Cebu is about the wife of then Mayor Tommy Osmena. She went to a boutique store near Mactan Airport and she was asked to leave by the owners because the store was for Koreans only. You know insulting their words were for a Filipino? Within a week, the two Korean owners were kicked-out of the country as undesirables -- escorted by BI officials to their plane seats, who then waited at the tarmac for the aircraft to take-off. The moral is, "Don't mess with Cebu." Edited March 22, 2012 by JJR
