WoW!!! So if some Mexicans dare to make a taqueria and they dare to say to an american that he should leave because this is for mexicans only...what happens to them? Only if they are really lucky they will be escorted back to Mexico!!!! Other wise...the area would smell roast pig due to their burning corpses...as for this Jimmy guy...sorry but he is a moron. He complains for a barrel in the street hole. Yes good it is there, someone placed it so you do not fall in until it is fixed. Where does he lives that street holes are fixed next day?he complained that they give him a gum in small plastic bag with a receipt attached and that liters...ask first why you moron!!!!!For this and all the rest he so rudely complained about. I am not filipino but i do live here. If he expects to be here as he is wherever he comes from...God thanks it is not as such!!!He is lucky he is not dead, he would become more famous if so and it would draw more attention to him and bad publicity to the country. he just got away from it really lucky!!!You fellows here and many others such us we do not want people like him around. They together with the sexpats, child molesters, drunkards and a long list, are just making a bad image for all of us. Do you think IF a local/Philippine citizen would do this? would any one even listen? :36_6_3[1]:Now the "cat has been let out of the bag" will any one (meaning :whistling: the powers to be) do anything to improve these items that effects many peoples "quality of life"?here is another link regarding what others(mostly Filipinos) have commented http://www.philstar.com/ArticleFeedback.aspx?articleId=788831

Interesting that all of the comments are "pro-jimmy", nothing like some of the angry responses I've read from other sources. Philstar is Manila-based, perhaps they don't share the sense of pride that Cebuanos have in their city or maybe they are being selective in posting replies. I agree this city councilor is grandstanding but what politician isn't? I don't believe for a minute this jimmy had altruistic motives in making the video, he wanted to make a name for himself and certainly succeeded.

He is still an Independent Producer with ChannelFix in Manila.

It's interesting.... I went back and listened to what he had done on the video again. (Note that the title is "20 things I dislike about the Philippines" and not "hate about the Philippines".) And if you listen closely, many of these things make sense - and many have even been discussed here on this forum. After I watched the video, I read an article he did after all the uproar was dying down. Apparently it wasn't his idea to do the video - he was asked to host it. You can find it if you google it - I"m not going to post it here.

One of the first things you learn when living here is to NEVER say anything bad about the Philippines at least not where locals can hear you ..... that is strictly taboo ..... there is nothing wrong nor has there EVER been anything wrong with what goes on here ..... now on the other hand they applaud their countrymen in other countries who demonstrate against the local governments there and are considered heroes for standing up for their rights living abroad ..... but then they are EXPECTED to have rights in foreign countries just not foreigners having rights here in this country ..... hummmmmmm ..... could it be a double standard ........... :mocking: ..... :cheersty:

True Mike! For a foreigner to stand up and make comments about things they don't like about the Philippines is going to land them in very hot water!

At the same time, if you read the blogs and newspapers about what he said and then read the comments after, there are so many of the Filipinos who agreed with him and backed him... Maybe times are changing? Ok, starting to change?

Of course I really don't want to put that theory to test personally!!!

:mocking:

Shouting out over the roofs what is wrong with the country will get me in trouble anywhere in the world!

However I can discuss the right & wrongs of the PH, or any other matter, over a nice cool beer without getting in trouble with my Filipino friends/colleagues.

If you start with an attitude of "I'm always right", expect no sympathy....

Except the US ..... you can complain about the country ... just not some of the people in it .... :mocking:

Local Filipinos know and do agree that there are many things wrong here ..... it is the politicians and people with power and influence that don't want anything bad said about the Philippines .... they don't want anything to make ripples in their respective ponds ..... and will either pay to have demonstrators protest for their cause or have you thrown out of the country .... and you just never know who might be eavesdropping in on your conversation ..... just like some of these ex-pats do in the malls with laundering their dirty linen in public ..... all it takes is someone with influence or knows someone with influence and it is all over but the crying ..... :tiphat:
