Jollygoodfellow Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Bit off topic but how do they read these meters or know who they are connected to?Also I see the standards for safety are lacking in the photo, looks like no harness's, short sleeve shirts and no gloves. Would not be allowed to be at work like that in Australia's power industry.

billten Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 I friend of mine is a local power company electrician and he regularly works on live poles, i know this because he showed me the scars where he was blown off a pole by a short when it started to rain all of a sudden and he was stuck up the pole. Its incredibly scary and the poor guy only get paid about P200 a day. I guess its cheaper to lose a few guys than turn off the power every time they need some work done. All depends on training, equipment and general rules and how they are enforced. We have Filipino power line workers here where I live in Queensland Australia and they have to follow our rules which I could imaging wont be anywhere near what it is in the Philippines.

"Do you know that "if" is the middle word in life?" I gotta kick out of both the pics and your new sig line! Thanks!
Jake Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Bubba, you da Man! When I posted that I figured Jake would have jumped on the title. I would definitely insert my shorting probe between those two terminals! I always carry a small flashlight even during the day and a 4 D cell Mag-light equalizer in my Jeep Wrangler.
