Another news story of an American who fled US justice and was caught at least he was not a "sex offender"The Bureau of Immigration (BI) said Tuesday it had arrested a fugitive who is wanted by authorities in the United States for securities fraud and money laundering.Immigration Commissioner Ricardo David Jr. said that Joe Don Johnson, 42, was picked up by members of the BI fugitive search unit in Taguig City.\Johnson tried to resist arrest when he was apprehended at a restaurant at Bonifacio High Street in Global City, Taguig City.In a statement, David said he issued a warrant of deportation against Johnson after the US Embassy informed him about the fugitive’s presence in the country.Earlier, the BI Board of Commissioners ordered the summary deportation of Johnson upon learning that his passport had been cancelled by the US state department, making him an undocumented alien.Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation have arrived in Manila to fetch Johnson and escort him back to the United States.Lawyer Ma. Antonette Mangrobang, BI spokesperson and acting intelligence chief, said that Johnson arrived in Manila on Feb. 23, barely three weeks after a US district court in western Oklahoma issued a bench warrant for his arrest. The US Embassy said Johnson, who hails from Texas, was charged before the Oklahoma court with various offenses, including securities fraud, aiding and abetting, and conspiracy to commit money laundering.Mangrobang said that the American had been blacklisted to prevent him from coming back to thePhilippines.http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/168199/texan-in-taguig-wanted-for-securities-fraud-fallsJust curious?? how do you think they "tracked" this man to here?credit cards? telephone records? internet search regarding his activities?Facebook?

the latest who was caught is an Australian living in Metro manila(alabang)

Australia’s alleged most wanted man was arrested at his house in Ayala Alabang Village, in Muntinlupa City on friday.

The arrest of Brett Ronald Maston, 45, came as Quentin Bryce, governor-general of the Commonwealth of Australia, is in Manila for a visit.

Chief Inspector Giovanni Martinez, head of the city police’s intelligence unit, said Maston is wanted in Australia for a string of bank robberies.

“He’s been hiding in the country for five years now. He told us that he has connections with some generals of the Armed Forces of the Philippines,” Martinez told The STAR.

Agents of the Bureau of Immigration arrested Maston in coordination with the Muntinlupa police and members of the Special Weapons and Tactics team of the Southern Police District.

The Australian fugitive has been under surveillance by the authorities prior to his arrest.

Here's another American nabbed in the Philippines:

http://www.journal.com.ph/index.php/news/metro/27568-undesirable-american-nabbed

AN overstaying American who was accused of abuse and maltreatment by his Filipina live-in partner was arrested by the Bureau of Immigration (BI), whose chief warned aliens against committing abuses against Filipino women.

“Let this serve as a warning to other foreigners that they should not abuse our Filipino women. They do not deserve our hospitality and the privilege to stay in our country,” BI Commissioner Ricardo David Jr. declared.

William Ray Smith, 64, is now behind bars at the Bicutan immigration jail following his arrest last march 27 inside the export processing zone compound in Rosario, Cavite.

Smith, according to David, overstayed in the country for more than six years and his illegal stay went unnoticed until it was revealed to immigration authorities by his common-law wife.

BI acting intelligence chief, Atty. Ma. Antonette Mangrobang said the woman, whose identity was withheld, complained of mental anguish due to continued physical and verbal abuse she suffered in the hands of the American.

“It was when Smith physically assaulted the complainant’s daughter from her first marriage that prompted the mother to report the undesirable alien to the bureau,” Mangrobang said.

Smith, she said, previously managed to obtain a one-year probationary resident visa from the BI after falsely entering into a marriage with a Filipina business partner but the visa lost its validity after the American failed to petition the BI to amend his status to permanent.

“Investigation also revealed that he once operated a business here without applying for a work permit and visa as required by law,” Mangrobang said, adding that the BI board of commissioners is expected to issue the order deporting Smith to the US after the Holy Week, aside from placing him in the immigration blacklist to prevent him from re-entering the Philippines.

Hmmm Looks like Com. David is focusing now in Blacklisting foreigners.Even the former Filipino citizen Ive known was included to his list... the case... Indegency, poor Filipino when his BB expires and his overstayed he seeked help to US embassy, Embassy helped him well Bi helped him too... but he was blacklisted. The only remedy? payment of his overstay... so that he will able to come back here in Pi. My point... why the Bi didnt told him to get Dual Citizenship instead so that he will not blacklisted.... point money talks.
