billten Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 (edited) Are you suggesting that there are no cases of Fillipinas seeking revenge for a boyfriend or husband leaving her even though he may have done it in the most respectable way? Or even, perhaps, the G/F or wife decides he is more trouble than he's worth and decides to 'arrange his departure'? Jim Sibbick Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 They should not have been fined at all! This is a not a graft and corruption issue. The killings were vigilante killings and only criminals were killed.Because of the vigilante programme, Davao now has the reputation as the safest place in the Philippines.Regards: JimWhilst agreeing with your view to a certain extent the danger is that if the guilty police were allowed to get away with it completely or as one suggested, given medals, how far would it escalate? Imagine the police getting "pissed with power" and you had a fallout with your local girl, she has a distant cousin who was one of the "DDS" ....... ? Where does it stop? The results of the non vigilante world are all around us.I am happy to live in a location with vigilantes. As for the pissed off girlfriend, don't piss her off.Treat ALL Filipinos with respect ALL of the time. Regards; JimI agree, the "results of the non vigilante world are all around us." and i do believe that one should treat ALL people with respect all the time, not just Filipinos. Are you suggesting that there are no cases of Filipinas seeking revenge for a boyfriend or husband leaving her even though he may have done it in the most respectable way?Perhaps you should explain how you can have a fall out with a girl that you have been showing respect that would require her to seek revenge. What would she be seeking revenge for?Regards: Jim
Curley Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.... I believe is an appropriate response unless of course all Fillipinas are completely stable and comprehending if they should be politely rejected due to (perceived or otherwise) irreconcilable differences. I am talking about treating ALL Filipinos with respect ALL of the time. You are talking about scorned people who obviously have not been treated with respect at some time. The whole point is moot anyway. Most foreigners I know think that their culture is superior to the Filipino culture and I am yet to see any foreigner who does treat ALL Filipinos with respect ALL of the time. So, I am sure there is a whole bunch of pissed off Filipinas out there.Regards: Jim

If someone disrespects me they do not deserve respect. I certainly don't think "my" culture is superior to anyone's.
Dave Hounddriver Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 yet to see any foreigner who does treat ALL Filipinos with respect ALL of the time. Well that is an interesting statement and I guess it applies to me too. I have to say I do not treat all _______________ (fill in the blank with any race or nationality you like) with respect ALL the time as each person is an individual deserving of respect, or not, on an individual basis.I have seen a number of foreigners who have 'gone native' in that they think they are honorary filipinos and thus have some kind of kinship that those who have been here less time do not have. But I cannot even generalize about that because of the Baptist pastor, (who I mentioned in another thread), who has been here 'forever' and still treats each person as an individual, regardless of race or nationality.I do, however agree with Curley that Hell hath no fury etc . . . but that actually comes from a play called the "The Mourning Bride" (1697) by William Congreve and is thus not expected to be taken literally.
