Sorry it has taken so long to respond. No internet yet.

Using Smartbro stick just to get online for 24 hours.

Contacted Tacloban NSO office on the 10th of August and were told that the supplemental report had been added to her NSO BC.

Went to The NSO here in Cebu on the 14th and got a copy. Her NSO BC still looks like someone vomited alphabet soup all over it however the Supplemental report is correct and now she has a 2 page BC.

Now for the really fun stuff. Getting the Visa to America.

In preparation for this next fun event we have moved yet again to another wonderful place here in Liloan and signed a 1 year contract in anticipation of yet another long long wait.

Update: Aug. 30, 2012.

Unfortunately there is a much bigger problem that has taken place.

Real quick on the past.

Met Rowena. Age 28 worked at a factory in Lapu Lapu. She gave a small amount to her parents every month to help with the bills.

Met her parents. Took food and cake to Mama and Papa and asked if I could marry Rowena. Moma and Papa said it was ok with them.

Haven't heard much from them in almost 5 months now. We get the occasional text from her younger sister asking for money and to let her and her boyfriend live with us but that's about all. They don't text her phone since it quit working a few months ago and they just text my phone.

A month ago little sister was in the hospital. We went to see her and found out she has Hepatitis B. She said she was working in Danao and living with her boyfriend who she claimed was a fisherman who owned his own boat.

Unfortunately a friend of ours who was a ship captain had just passed away from Hep C and I was almost broke from helping out with that.

Not to mention being sick myself at the time from the chemicals the factory next to our old house was using.

It seems that Mama and Papa have been told of a way to try and force me to give them money.

We got a text message from Little sister this morning saying she was on her way over to our house. Our old house that is. We hadn't told them we had moved yet since we just moved into our new house a few weeks ago. So Rowena told her that we had moved and she could not go to the old house since we do not live there anymore.

That's when the real trouble started.

We started getting text messages at the rate of about 1 every 30 seconds after that.

The first one said we did not have Papa's permission to move.

The next said we did not have Papa's permission to get married as well.

The next one said I did not keep my promise to Papa and Mama by paying them 2000 pesos a month.

The next one said they had been tracing me to find out where I was at.

The next one said little sister owed 6000 pesos for hospital bills and needed money.

The next one said she needed 20000 pesos for hospital bill.

The next one went up to 40000.

They finally asked where we had moved to and wanted our exact address.

Rowena told them we moved to Negros and don't have an exact address.

The text messages continued like that for over 4 hours at times they got very threatening and to me sounded more like intimidation and extortion.

They stopped for about 30 minutes then we got a text saying that Rowena was to call her Papa on her Cell Phone right now.

After several attempts to explain that her cell phone does not work and the sun sim card in it is no longer any good as well as many attempts to call them they finally answered the phone.

Rowena spoke with Papa who asked how she was and if she could do him a little favor and give him some money. He claimed that they had not paid the electric bill and they were coming out tomorrow to shut the electricity off and needed 700+ pesos. Rowena told him we do not have any money and could not give him any. She was telling the truth. I have 400 pesos left right now. Papa then handed the phone to Momma.

Then Rowena spoke with Momma. Momma asked how she was and said that Rowena had not called her in a very long time and she was worried about her. She then asked for a small favor of money. 700 + pesos. Rowena asked what was ment by the Tracing me statement. Momma wouldn't answer but said she was just worried about her.

Make a long story short.

Apparently Auntie who sold Granny's land without asking or giving a fair share to the rest of papa's family and is being sued by almost the entire clan, was advising them on what to do to get money from me.

Rowena finally fell asleep a little while ago. She didn't stop crying until she was asleep. She said she wants me to change my cell number and for us to move to Malaysia or someplace else. And she said that if we get another text message from her family to ignore it.

I am not sure but I think it may be a good idea if we do move out of the country.

Sounds like an episode of the Beverly Hillbillies. I am just a simple Florida man and not the brightest thing on two legs but reading some things here (like this post) give me hope I may be a close relative to Albert Einstein. Unreal.

Ow! It's hard when things like this happen in the family. Give Rowena a hug and tell her that we are all behind the both of you regardless of what you both choose.

Have you considered coming back to the Philippines after your marriage? Remember - there are over 7000 islands here! You don't have to let her family know you are back and where you are. And maybe after a while they will realize their mistake which will let Rowena have her family back.

Tell your gf to develop a backbone and to tell her grasping family to get real.

She got to faced up her family instead of crumbling down or the demand will never ceased.

Tell Rowena from me, to tell the family that she has no job and is totally dependent from you. So are they (family) trying to sell her as common prostitute?????????? And because of the demands, you are now thinking of ditching her as too much trouble than its worth.

As for not having permission to get married, to asked her family, why its important to get permission to get married but its alright to live in sin like her little sister who is only good for sex as the boyfriend is unwilling to pay her hospital bills???????????? If little sister gives her trouble, she should tell her off, as in - she is old enough to have sex then she is old enough to face her responsibility instead dumping her problems to her.

As to the parents, to tell them, she will help with the household expenses as and when she has a job and not before then. The family is not your responsibility. If you are sick would they pawn their house to pay for your hospital bills??????????????

Rowena should stand firm and resolute instead of running away. Wherever you go, if she doesn’t have the backbone to stand up to her family now, you will just be storing problems in the future.

Definitely filipino ………….. im still a work in progress with the british stiff upper lip. Mind you, ive mellowed in my old age ……….. you should have seen me in action in my younger days.
