Military Passenger Flights?

I did a few calculations on my end and found that it would probably cost me just as much if not more to fly standby on military flights than it would to fly straight over (economy class that is)... The issue is accommodations and incidentals while waiting for a seat... If I only lived on the west coast... :no: I checked prices for a booked flight through expedia.ca (just to get an idea of costs for that timeline) and found a flight in October for just over $900 CDN (from Toronto to Cebu with a couple hour stop in Hong Kong). Just need to get a throw-away ticket to match up to it... If I flew standby, I couldn't guess on how long it would take me and thus hotels would be daily rebooked (higher costs) plus incidentals. Plus I would have to get to where I could start flying from rather than just taking a bus to the airport.

So, while this wasn't of use for me, hopefully somebody will be able to get around a little cheaper! :tiphat:
