MikeB Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Obviously he is not the only one but he is the chief magistrate of the country, he should be above reproach, "Caesar's wife". His performance was shameful. I agree with post 7, it's at least a step in the right direction.
Mike S Posted May 30, 2012 Author Posted May 30, 2012 It is kinda like "how do you eat an elephant ....... one bite at a time" ..... it is a start and now for the next one .... she has had plenty of time to think up a new strategy ,,,, but with Iggy gone there is no one else to take the blame for them .... it is a shame that NoyNoy won't run again next year but all we can hope is that someone else will be elected and continue to carry the torch against corruption ......
Bundy Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 He will hide out in hospital like GMA until another player comes to power and the be pardoned $$$$$$. It's more fun in da Philippines. Nailed it Old 55! Given the Filipino politician's propensity to become seriously ill when their very livelihood is threatened, i'd say this will be a good indicator as to what happens next.In a country where you have previous coup leaders as senators, as they say......."Always expect the unexpected" :hystery: :hystery: :hystery:
TheMason Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Jake buddy, I seriously doubt that they will ever get rid of corruption at least in our lifetimes. But this was a good start. BTW...Hi Gloria...Where are you? Don't go too far....You're next! Hehehe This wasn't the start of eliminating corruption, it was simply the continuation of one group of political cronies going after their enemies. I'm sure in a few years we'll hear about Aquino's successor going after the Aquino administration for their horrible corruption and misdeeds while in office. The surest sign that you're government is totally ###### up is when administrations regularly go after their predecessors and lock them up for corruption. Its all made for TV bullsh&t to distract people from realizing that absolutely nothing has changed under Aquino.

Call me bubba Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 here is another article from BBC news about this, Interesting piece to read certainly it would never been written or published by a RP news media (edited please read FULL article only the :morning1: Highlights of story was posted) # 1 But that was only after some memorable scenes in court. Many of the senators are former movie and TV personalities or the children of ousted presidents (the sons of Ferdinand Marcos and Joseph Estrada are both senators). These flamboyant personalities are used to the limelight. # 2 " This trial took some very strange twists and turns, as everyone was performing for the cameras," said Senator Miriam Santiago, one of the most flamboyant of them all. At one stage she called a member of the prosecution "stupid", screamed 'Wah!" repeatedly in frustration, and announced she "felt like creeping back into bed and adopting a foetal position". Then came Corona's own testimony. He gave a three-hour monologue that included a complex powerpoint presentation, broke down into tears, then got up and walked out of the chamber. Less than an hour later, with the gates to the Senate locked to prevent him leaving the compound, he was back - this time in a wheelchair. He complained of health problems, and he has been in hospital most of the time since. # 3 Part of the reason this trial was so highly charged was because everyone involved knew that it went far deeper than just the guilt or innocence of one man. It cut right to the heart of a festering disagreement between two branches of government - the executive and the judiciary - and an even larger divide between the current and former presidents. # 4 The trial of the chief justice can be compared to a soap opera Corona was appointed Supreme Court justice by the former president, Gloria Arroyo, in the last few weeks of her term. # 5 So, in many ways, the outcome is a triumph for President Aquino. # 6 "The verdict was not based on the rules of court, but on political considerations," she claimed. # 7 But Ms Vitug insists that the outcome was both fair and a watershed moment in the notoriously corrupt world of Philippine politics. "What is really compelling and makes this such a landmark case is that it sends such a really strong signal to other public officials that they need to be completely above board when it comes to their finances," she said # 8 For many Filipinos, one major positive of the trial is that it's actually reached a timely conclusion. Court cases in the Philippines have a tendency to go on and on unresolved for years. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-18294549
