continues to consolidate while over the Philippine Sea, east of Northern Samar and is likely to develop into a Tropical Depression within the next 12 to 24 hours. The center was located about 286 km ENE of Borongan City or 422 km ESE of Virac, Catanduanes (12.4N 127.9E)...max winds of 35 kph...currently moving WNW to NW @ 19 kph towards Northeastern Luzon (Isabela-Cagayan Area).

Its thick and broad convective rainbands will continue to bring scattered rains with squalls and thunderstorms across Eastern Mindanao, Eastern Visayas and Bicol Region tonight and tomorrow.

THE ACTIVE LOW PRESSURE AREA (ALPA) EAST OF SAMAR HAS INTENSIFIED INTO A TROPICAL DEPRESSION AND WAS NAMED “AMBO”.

Location of eye/center:

At 10:00 PM today, the center of Tropical Depression “AMBO” was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 260 km East of Borongan, Eastern Samar (12.3°N, 128.0°E).

Strength:

Maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center.

Movement:

Forecast to move Northwest at 15 kph.

Forecast Positions:

Tropical Depression “AMBO” is expected to be at 190 km Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes by tomorrow evening. It will be at 340 km East Northeast of Tuguegarao City by Saturday evening and by Sunday evening, it will be at 510 km Northeast of Tuguegarao City or at 430 km East Southeast of Basco, Batanes
