Mike S Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Well yesterday was the semi-annual tear down and cleaning of my desktop ..... god what a job would almost rather have a tooth pulled (I can say that I ain't got no teeth) (damn just a thought what another great item to add to the pole about fat ..... bald ..... stinky .... old .... impenitent ..... suffering from erectile dysfunction ....... foreigners ........ little or no teeth .... gotta be at least 85% ..... and definitely a turn off for Filipinas and another feather in the cap of the young guns :hystery: ) anyway ..... had to strip it bare all but the MB was left inside .... took the cooler and CPU chip out and re-coated it with thermal paste .... I tried the Tuniq TX-2 this time and if thickness is any sign of dispersing heat this one is a winner ..... my god .... them damn stuff is like trying to spread putty on the CPU ..... used a razor blade to get it smooth .... they now have the TX-4 but as I had this I used it .... supposed to be some pretty good stuff on NewEgg 85% of the people that tried it liked it ..... so we will see ... after removing the 5 fans and cleaning them with rags (somehow the crap that is all over the inside of the computer is black sh*t and kinda gummy not like dust you can just blow off) tried my vacuum but it didn't remove all of it ..... started at about 10:00am and finished at 5:30pm with only a break for lunch .... so yea it ain't my most favorite thing to while away my time ..... So now along with my internal heat monitoring programs I managed to find a digital indoor/outdoor thermomitor in True Value hardware at Ayala (the last one they had) and with my other smaller digital one I can monitor my room temp .... the temp inside the case and my exhaust fan venting out the top of the case ..... so far I have this ...... room temp ... 30.6 .... inside temp ... 35.5 and exhaust ..... 33.4 at idle my board readings are CPU 44 ..... GPU .... 38 ..... this is just under normal load and of course the thermal paste needs to take a few days to settle down and cure .... so we'll see in a few days ....
Jake Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 (edited) So, how was the dust build-up between your cleaning cycle? Although I haven't done it yet, next time I'm going to tear apart the PSU (power supply unit) for visual inspection and vacuum job. As a bench tech working on slot machines, it was often times a necessity to replace those exploded electrolytic caps inside those PSU's. The dust build-up was unbelievable which probably cause heat related failures. I've been known to walk around the casino floor demonstrating my hand held digital thermometer as I point the laser on my skin. My internal temps sky rocket whenever a sexy cocktail waitress tease me with their smile and dirty jokes. As far as getting older, perhaps having no teeth is an advantage whenever you go south of the border. Mike S Posted June 4, 2012 Author Posted June 4, 2012 About the teeth .... :hystery: :hystery: :hystery: :hystery: .... I like the way you think Jake ..... :hystery: :hystery: :hystery: :hystery: ..... when I worked in the hospitals we used to take our continuity testers and go up to one of the nurses and tell her we could tell if she was horny or not ..... and of coarse she would deny it .... then just touch her with the leads and the alarm would go off ..... sure got a lot of laughs with that ...... :mocking:
