Jack Peterson Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 Are good quality rechargeable batteries readily available for a nice price in Phils? Should I stock up before I move? ACE Hardware has a fairly good range as does City Hardware. Price ! well, they ain't cheap but not over priced either to my Mind. My brother -in-law tells me than most good camera retailers have stocks too. Hope this helps.
OnMyWay Posted June 12, 2012 Author Posted June 12, 2012 they ain't cheap but not over priced Yup, they ain't cheap here either but they do save a lot of money in the long run. I like to buy good ones but the ones I had (gave to my girlfriend) were over 5 years old, so on their last legs. Still working though. I recommend this Maha brand if you need strong ones for cameras', etc. I tried some others and they did not stand up to these. http://www.thomasdistributing.com/16-Pack-MAHA-POWEREX-2700-mAh-AA-Rechargeable-Batteries-and-Free-Maha-Case_p_1334.html?frontpage=
sjp52 Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 (edited) I order these ( free shipping any where in the world ) and find they are a lot better than the best duracell rechargeables. I have both. http://www.dealextre...ries-4-pack-487 http://www.dealextre...tery-pack-26987 Also I found this charger to do a great and fast charge. It refreshes the battery when you charge it, meaning it drains all left over juice in the battery for a fresh charge, suppose to be a good thing. http://www.dealextreme.com/p/4-x-aa-aaa-battery-charger-with-1-5-lcd-display-100-240v-ac-35286 Edited June 12, 2012 by sjp52

I had a couple of small chargers and I was thinking about investing in a good quality on like that because it will extend the life of the batteries.
Gary Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 I changed to all rechargeble batteries years ago. Best move i ever made. its a lot cheaper in the long run. Just make sure you get a charger that can charge ALL sizes of batteries and get a spare set of each size you are using.
Adventurer Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 yeah I have my batrery charger and envelope rechargables sent in BB box, should be there when I get back. I would suggest to get it all sorted out before you go as the quality and prices for electrical goodz can not be so great in the Philippines. OnMyWay Posted June 14, 2012 Author Posted June 14, 2012 I have been doing some research and it seems like the new "low discharge" rechargeables are the way to go. Sanyo Eneloop gets high marks from everyone, for value and performance. Charging 2X a week, they should last 15 years. I will post in 15 years and let you know how they are! Maha brand is also highly rated, but slightly more expensive.
