Call me bubba Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 Alien I-Cards will soon be delivered to foreigners FOREIGNERS applying for visas at the Bureau of Immigration no longer have to go to the agency’s offices to claim their alien certificate of registration-identity card (ACR-I-Card) as these will soon be delivered to their doorsteps. Under the revised rules on the processing and issuance of the ACR-I-Card issued recently by Commissioner Ricardo David Jr., all I-Cards printed and released for distribution shall be endorsed to a courier that shall deliver the cards to the visa applicants within 24 hours. David said the new procedure will be operational as soon as the BI has identified, selected and engaged the services of a reliable, reputable and cost-effective courier provider. He disclosed that a supplemental memorandum will be issued to formalize the operation of the courier delivery system for the ACR-I-Card. The guidelines state that the cards shall be delivered to the residential address of stated by the applicant in his or her application form. http://news.manilastandardtoday.com/2012/06/16/alien-i-cards-will-soon-be-delivered-to-foreigners/ Processing of I-Cards cut to 5 working days The Bureau of Immigration reduced the processing of certificate of registration identity (ACR I-Card) card of aliens staying in the country from two weeks to five days. Commissioner Ricardo David Jr. issued a memorandum circular prescribing the new rules which prescribe a period of only five days for processing and issuing ACR I-Card applications . Any delay in the timeline could result in disciplinary action against the responsible employee. Lawyer Ronaldo Ledesma, BI acting alien registration chief, welcomed the new rules as it “finally cures the problem and plugs the loopholes” in the I-Card application process. http://news.manilastandardtoday.com/2012/06/10/processing-of-i-cards-cut-to-5-working-days/ I-Cards pile up at Immigration MORE than 3,000 alien identity cards remain unclaimed at the Bureau of Immigration office, according to Immigration Commissioner Ricardo David Jr. David appealed to the foreigners to claim their alien certificate of registration identity card so they will not encounter problems on their immigration status. David stressed that the I-Card is an “important and indispensable” document that every foreigner, who holds a non-immigrant or immigrant visa in the Phillippines, must obtain. He said a foreigner, who holds a non-immigrant or immigrant visa, should present the I-Card to immigration officers at a Philippine port of entry everytime he or she enters or exits the country. David warned that the visa of a foreigner will be downgraded to tourist if he arrives or departs the country without his I-Card. “This card is proof of a foreigner’s legal residence status. Without it, a foreigner is deemed improperly documented and may be sanctioned for violating our immigration and alien registration laws,” he added. http://manilastandardtoday.com/2012/04/19/i-cards-pile-up-at-immigration/

Mike S Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 As you said it doesn't pertain to everyone (or I think you said it) .... I have to get mine once every 5 years so no big deal .... but I suppose that if they do put a new cost (and you know they will like the 500p express lane) then we all will have to pay for it but at least it will only be once every 5 years .....
