i am bob Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Don't rule out the lower thread count if it is a decent cotton! The looser weave will be cooler at night as it will allow for more air and moisture to pass through. I have one set with a looser weave that just won't die and it's sooooo comfortable!
Mike S Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Well we don't have that problem .... when I moved here we bought out the contents of an expat leaving to go back to his homeland ..... he liked to travel a lot and apparently also collected hotel sheets ... towels and face cloths (there are marks from various hotels on all the linen .... ) so I got enough to last me almost forever .... oh by the way this is no joke ..... we sent several sets home to the province ...... does this mean we are living in tall cotton ..... :hystery: :hystery: :hystery:
JJReyes Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 (edited) They ship international and have good prices. I sent gifts to the Philippines from online catalogue companies. The companies may agree to ship, but it is done at the buye's risk. No refund if the package is held by Philippine Customs. One strategy Customs agents use is to hold the package based on some filmsy excuse. Each day, there is a storage fee added, while you try to sort out the paperwork. You can't asked Customs to return the package to the catalogue company unless all the fees are fully paid. You decide to abandon the package. Guess who keeps the goodies. The system was terrible until a genius, a potential candidate for sainthood, invented the balikbayan box. By the way, during the holiday season, any odd shaped envelope that looks like a Christmas card will be opened by Philippine postal employees. What they are looking for is gift money in cash to pilfer. If you write on the card, "Enjoy my $50 gift," you might get an irate response from the recipient, "You forgot to enclose the $50!!!" I'm thinking that I may find what I want in Hong Kong. I just happen to be going there next week. Anyone have shopping knowledge there to share. I will do a web search and see what I can find before leaving.... ALL ELSE FAILS I'll probably look for someone to carry a set to me from the USA. I like the 1500 thread count for $85 USD (p3500 roughly) hmmmmmm anyone coming over soon???
