Some veterans may be eligible for immediate medical care, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Veterans who served on active duty at Camp Lejeune, N.C., for at least 30 days between 1957 and 1987 and are exhibiting certain medical conditions qualify for care under a new law signed by President Barack Obama. The Honoring America's Veterans and Caring for Camp Lejeune Families Act of 2012 directs the Veterans Affairs department to provide medical care for veterans and their families who were at Camp Lejeune during the indicated years. "I hope the law will bring some relief for those still suffering," said Guam Delegate Madeleine Bordallo, who is running for re-election. Illnesses covered Illnesses covered include: esophageal cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer, bladder cancer, kidney cancer, leukemia, multiple myeloma, myleodysplasic syndromes, renal toxicity, hepatic steatosis, female infertility, miscarriage, sclerodoma, neurobehavioral effects and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
