Popular Post jamesmusslewhite Posted August 18, 2012 Author Popular Post Posted August 18, 2012 There are a few updates to this story. Harry Doyle was shot five times with a small caliper handgun believed to be a .22 caliper. The first reports of the location of the shots were wrong, this was due to the blood covering the body made it difficult to determine. All shots were actually in the lower belly and upper thigh region. Harry Doyle had a 30 minute window of opportunity, if proper first aid had been properly applied, to perhaps survive long enough to get him to a hospital. His body was released today after the autopsy was completed. His body was loaded onto the Cokaliong ferry and left Surigao City this evening to be delivered to Cebu where he is to be cremated. His wife Jane Doyle and their son Joseph Doyle will accompany his ashes back to his home town in Canada, and services have been scheduled for August 24th. It is expected to be well attended as Harry Doyle had many family members, friends, and acquaintances who are expected to attend. The Surigao City PNP are still waiting for the final report of the results of the autopsy. The police also noted that Jane Doyle, her new lawyer, and her family have not been very cooperative with the investigators in charge of the investigation.
i am bob Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Thanks James! 2 questions come to mind... Is his wife a Filipina or Canadian? And is his wife being "not very cooperative" because of possible involvement or is it from lack of confidence in the police? I doubt if we will ever learn the true reason for this senseless killing...

For what I have seen and and heard in the 5 years I've been here, foreigners who are killed here seldom if ever get justice. Again I feel that this was a well planned, well carried out hit. Popular Post Dave Hounddriver Posted August 19, 2012 Popular Post Posted August 19, 2012 foreigners who are killed here seldom if ever get justice. I can't recall any foreigners getting real justice for any wrongs done to them here. Its why so many of us stay away from situations where we stand to lose money or land or our life. May the victim rest in peace and I hope he told his family the same as I told mine. That being: I know the risks of living in the Philippines and choose to do it anyway. If the worst happens, know that I lived life on my own terms and was prepared for the consequences.

I agree 100%, this is one of the most important things anyone living here in the Philippines has to decide. I had not heard it vocalized in quite such an effective way before, thank you Dave.

I doubt if we will ever learn the true reason for this senseless killing... To the best of my knowledge she is a Filipino citizen, though she may have held a Residence Card. They have lived here in the Philippines almost exclusively for at least 8 years and returns back to Canada once a year for a few months. The police believe that she is dodging them with make them very suspicious, but perhaps she is just too grief stricken to want to deal with investigators at this time, and merely wants to wait until she has returned Harry home. People often handle grief differently. I am not going to make accusations about a woman having committed such an evil act, unless she has been charged by the police. Though I believe in the rights of "Free Speech", I am still a larger proponent of one's right to be "Innocent Until Proven Guilty". I am not one to engage in unsubstantiated accusations, malicious gossip, or tabloidism. I have learned over the years that often public opinion, police suspicions, and bias reporting can all be wrong. I am only reporting on the facts as I learn them, out of respect to Harry's wife, his son, his family, and his friends; also my engaging in such activities can be counterproductive for an investigation that is still ongoing.

I agree whole heartedly with you James! Too often the slant in journalism is to sell papers - and too many reporters try to make themselves look like a champion of the people by misleading the facts. Pure gossip can only lead to more "unfactual truths" prevailing. There are 2 sides to every story and often both sides have merit but opposing facts - though it is hard to find merit in an incident that involves a death.
jamesmusslewhite Posted August 20, 2012 Author Posted August 20, 2012 A small update to the case: The official results of the autopsy conducted Friday the 17th will be released the Wednesday the 22nd. I will post it once I receive a copy.
Popular Post jamesmusslewhite Posted August 22, 2012 Author Popular Post Posted August 22, 2012 (edited) I was not able to get a copy of the autopsy this evening, but should have it tomorrow. I will post the results as soon as I get them. I also found out some new information that conflicts with the information I received from investigators. This shows the reason I have been so diligent on trying to find out any and all information pertaining to this case. There can be inconsistencies, false testimony, new information, or things just over looked. So I will post these corrections. I talked to an American names Michael A. (have not received his permission to post his full name) who lives very close to were Harry Doyle was shot Sunday the 12th. He is a trained first-aid "1st responder instructor". Michael was on the scene within 5-10 minutes of the shooting and immediate started CPR. He said that he did 12-16 sets of 30:2's. He was still applying CPR when the paramedics came up to the scene and made him stop. Jane Doyle was there when he came up to the scene, she was sitting and had Harry's head in her lap. He said she looked pale as if she was going in shock herself, and praying out loud for Harry. He said he looked right into her eyes and face and she did not appear to be acting to him. I just wanted you to know that Harry did not die alone in that sand. He had his wife cradling him and my friend was trying to save his life. This is not how the police reported the scene, but than again they had showed up later after the paramedics had arrived. Harry was being treated with care and dignity, it was just his time to go home to the Father. Edited August 22, 2012 by jamesmusslewhite

Did they have you stop because it was too late or because they didn't want you doing "Their" job?
