He was always such a ham, loved being in front of the camera and on TV with the homegrown commercials he sold to advertising clients then did the on camera pitchman himself. Always ending with the call to action "call NOW" this show will stir up somi sh t forsure but prolly won't make no never mind in the Phillippines Edited March 31, 2016 by HarryBeatMeAtTennis

HarryBeatMeAtTennis Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 I watched it last night and the show was well enough done that it just might produce pressure to get the appropriate local cops outa their important meetings, do-nut shops and hiddy holes long enough to figure out away to serve justice in this instance but I won't hold my breath

The first was that Jane Doyle missed a perfect opportunity to sit down with the press and tell her side of the story and let it be known to the public. I have always felt that if Jane Doyle is innocent that she has certainly done everything possible to put herself in a less favorable light. The second was that the documentary empathized that the Canadian authorizes ignore INTERPOL Priority Red Notices and that the local Fredericton police were actually doing nothing to monitor her. It is like it does not matter that Harry was murdered and a Prime suspect was in their backyard, because Ottawa and the RCMP are determined to try to do as little as possible to assist. There is another murder case here about a year ago here in Surigao City of a young Swiss man where the suspect (another Swiss man) quickly left the Philippines and returned to Switzerland after the murder. In that case the Swiss authorities sent investigators here a few months ago who worked with the local PNP and did their own investigation. They found witnesses who gave them what they needed to return to Switzerland and confront the suspect and secure a confession from the man. The Swiss authorities are supposed to be returning here to Surigao City to try to arrest the shooters hired to do the hit so they can stand trial for the crime of killing one of their citizens. Where as the Canadian embassy only makes phone calls for occasional updates and since 2012 have not once sent anyone here to investigate the case. I guess the comparison shows just how the authorities actually care about their citizens, and from which government their citizenry is actually getting what they paid for through their paid taxes.

They usually wait for assistance from foreign government to react. Foreigners should know this and not venture in to predominantly Muslim inhabited areas. The same with getting feisty with locals when drunk or otherwise. Many ways to avoid problems here if one is careful.

Right now she is living the life of luxury while the wheels of just is move every sooooo slowly. Sounds like she is getting pretty good legal advice, never say anything that might assist your opponents in anyway. 9 hours ago, Gratefuled said: They usually wait for assistance from foreign government to react Your so right Grate, but then it is the position of most developed countries never to negotiate with terrorists or criminals (kidnappers included). They put out the advisories and then the attitude (at least of the US government) is, you buy your ticket and take your chances. My brother works for our state department and some of the stories he tells of "stupid" tourists just makes you shake your head.
HarryBeatMeAtTennis Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 Jane's manner of dealing with Harry's family (not communicating) and unwillingness to state her position on the matter to the media does not give the perception of an innocent person but I'm no expert. The behaviour or lack thereof of the cops is not surprising. They hide their inaction behind the facade of preserving a person's privacy whilst zipping around like a bunch of hipsters in flashy cars alienating the youth of this country
jamesmusslewhite Posted April 8, 2016 Author Posted April 8, 2016 (edited) Navigating the Filipino justice system Harry Doyle was a successful businessman from New Brunswick, who sought love in the Philippines. That's where he was murdered, by the sea at a tropical resort. And the search for his killers stretches from Asia back here to Canada. Steven Bandera, W5Published Saturday, April 2, 2016 7:00AM EDT Researching "Who killed Harry?" required navigating through Canadian and Filipino justice systems, as a court in Fredericton rules on matters related to Harry Doyle’s estate, while a court in Surigao City is hearing the case of two of the four people accused of Harry’s murder. And for someone used to the cut-and-dry Canadian legal system, wading into the waters of the Filipino system was delightful at times and very confusing at others. English is the language of record in the Philippines, but it’s not the mother tongue in a country that has a minimum of eight dialects, and people from one island are jokingly called “foreigners” on another. Related Stories W5 tracks down elusive prime suspect in mysterious murder of Canadian in the Philippines If a murder is attempted, but unsuccessful, the criminal code terms it "frustrated murder," court transcripts are “steno-notes” and the title of “attorney” is used by lawyers the same way "doctor" or “professor” are in Canada. In the matter of Harry Doyle’s murder, there is a state prosecutor, but the heavy-lifting in the courtroom is done by a private prosecutor, in this case Attorney Alfonso Casurra, the former mayor of Surigao City, who was hired by Harry Doyle’s sisters. He explained that it is important in murder cases for the victim’s family to be separately represented and to take the stand – that’s just the way it works in the Philippines. When the artists working with police had a difficult time producing a “cartographic sketch” with the eyewitnesses to the murder, the police resorted to a different investigative technique: they produced a “gallery of hardened criminals” – a compilation of a dozen photos of males who had been previously involved in shooting incidents. When we ordered copies of the court transcripts, we were provided with the originals – “because this is going to Canada.” The transcripts themselves are on almost-legal-sized-paper that feels like tissue, bound together with staples and string. And transcripts are something the new judge in the murder case will need, because the old judge retired halfway through the case. http://www.ctvnews.ca/w5/navigating-the-filipino-justice-system-1.2841814 Edited April 8, 2016 by jamesmusslewhite
