United Army Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 A few weeks ago I took my step daughter to the ER at Chong Hua Hospital, the ER staff said that the ER was for admission only and referred us to their OPDC (Out Patient Department Clinic). This was on Friday afternoon. Oh...something new I guess. That OPDC cost me only 100P and the care given was very good I must say. The doctor that saw my step daughter was a resident and after his work up it was checked by a staff physician. We first went to an ENT doctor but he was on vacation and it would of cost us 500P. This was my first time using the OPD at Chong Hua, and it was well worth it.

Mike S Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Yes they are excellent and considered the best hospital on the island of Cebu ..... or so I have read ..... I have personally only used Cebu Doctors Hospital on Osmena near the capital ..... excellent and cheep services .... had a CT scan .... blood work and doctors treatment for kidney stones there 4 years ago .... I highly recommend them ..... both of these hospitals are high tech when it comes to procedures here in the Philippines .... IMHO

JJReyes Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 That OPD cost me only 100P and the care given was very good I must say. The doctor that saw my step daughter was a resident and after his work up it was checked by a staff physician. Unbelievable price! I own my own business and the premium is $490 a month for medical insurance. That's around P20,000. Every visit to the doctor is a co-pay of $25 or another P1,000. Every service, for example, an MRI or surgery is a co-pay system up to a maximum of $2,500 (P100,000) a year. Yet I feel fortunate to be able to afford medical insurance. The waiting rooms use to be filled. After the 2008 economic collapse, there might two or three persons ahead of me. Membership dramatically dropped. Many small companies were eliminating medical coverage as a benefit to cut costs. There is a bit of a hustle going on. I went for a routine eye exam and the clerk was trying to schedule another appointment a year later. This was before I even saw the eye doctor! The nurse schedules my routine visits every 90 days. Is it because I am getting old or is it the co-pay?

I am a cancer survivor. Next series of tests in September is my annual Upper & Lower GI. The preparation is lots of fun. It includes drinking one gallon of laxative.
earthdome Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 I am a cancer survivor. Next series of tests in September is my annual Upper & Lower GI. The preparation is lots of fun. It includes drinking one gallon of laxative. I also am a cancer survivor. Cancer free for a bit over 2 years now. Very fortunate to have been detected very early and be the type of cancer for which surgery can be a 100% cure. Yeah... I hate prep for tests like that... It will be worth it when you get the news after the test that you are still cancer free. :)
Steve & Myrlita Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Wow, this must be the cancer club. Yes, I'm also a cancer survivor (Left Kidney). Praise God I'm still alive.
