Bundy Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Ok all you computer nuts, ya know that i'm a dummy when it comes to computers. My question is this. I like to listen to the rugby league live from Oz on radio 2GB.I have my speakers turned up full bore and everything else i can find on Max but still the sound is not great. So, is it possible to connect external speakers to a netbook and will it improve the sound level?

Yes You might also like to invest in one of these, http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/110923258483?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_3556wt_986 I bought one the other day for my laptop but it has not arrived yet. There are other similar things to boost the sound to your speakers. My desktop has a high quality audiophile sound card and it can blast out some sound, even had the neighbors complained a few weeks back, lol. Also headphones plugged in to the netbook will help if you do not want to run speakers.

i am bob Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Or you can just run a regular set of powered speakers through the headset jack. Just make sure you don't plug into the mike jack! :attention:
Forum Support Old55 Posted August 18, 2012 Forum Support Posted August 18, 2012 XFi Go, would be my choice for your budget. Headphones would also be major step up. I would suggest Grado SR60i headphones. I have a more expensive USB DAC I use at home but I'm a nerd-O-rama nut case when it comes to audio stuff. These have good reviews but again would sound best with headphones. http://us.store.creative.com/Creative-Sound-Blaster-XFi-Go-Pro/M/B0044DEDC0.htm http://www.fiio.com.cn/product/index.aspx?ID=34&MenuID=020302 http://www.head-direct.com/Products/?act=detail&id=113#
CebuAndy Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 (edited) I use this, cost me 25 USD in Thailand, great clean sound and the sub woofer really deliver. I hardly use more than 10% of the volume available. Very satisfied. http://asia.creative...31&listby=usage Edited August 18, 2012 by CebuAndy
i am bob Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 I used to sell a set very much like these (change the name and they are the same) here in Canada. Amazingly inexpensive and great sound for the size and price! :attention:

jojones Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 You might have a hard time finding the speaker in the last post. Its easy to find a pair of usb powered speakers for 500 Pesos, they won't have much bass but will do the job just for watching some rugby. For 1k you can get a pair of speakers which come with a subwoofer, these will be much louder and will be suitable for music and movies too. These will be mains powered and plug into the headphone jack. Just take your laptop with you to the store and they will test them. If you want cheap go straight to CDR-King and if you want decent quality go to SM Appliance store or Abensons. Computer stores might have something similar to the one in the last post.
