tiger31 Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 one thing i like about living here you don,t need to worry about old garbage and unwanted items .just leave them outside your door and wooof there gone lol and i mean everything ,very little makes it to the rubbish tip here.we in the western world just go out and buy new in our throw away society ,complete reverse here .if you blow something up with a grenade they will put it back together again lol its more fun in the philippines .
JJReyes Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 just leave them outside your door and wooof there gone Filipinos in Japan discovered that nearly brand new appliances were left on the sidewalks during pick-up day for large bulk items. They would roam the residential areas ahead of the trucks to retrieve the more expensive items like televisions and stereos. The items are then sent home in Balikbayan boxes. The Russians and East Europeans started doing the same. Japan is a society where the average life for a cellular phone is eight months or whenever a new model becomes available.

cebu rocks Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 BLAME THE CHINAMAN lol Really ? We made out own choices by throwing out the stuff , maybe if we all payed a couple more bucks to fix it , There would be repair shops every where like here and the price for repairs would go down . Its always easier to blame some one else . Blaming a entire country or race for our down falls ( BLAME THE CHINAMAN lol ) is in bad taste . Maybe you guys feel I have my panties in a knot But I don,t find humor like that funny . Maybe there are Chinese members of this forum? Sorry rant over Ps tiger i,m sure you don,t really feel this way but there are members from all over the world I,m sure .
Okieboy Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 most electronics here in the Phil can be fixed, i don't kow where they get the parts, Apple very hard to get repaired in USA, but no problem here.
FlyAway Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 BLAME THE CHINAMAN lol Nah, blame ourselves for wanting cheap goods. One day China and all these other countries we get "Cheap" goods from will come up with better labor and environmental standards just like Western countries did. Japanese have a different outlook on commodities. Cars are a great example. When I was stationed in Okinawa in mid 80's, wrecking yards were full of cars we would never think of scrapping here.
JJReyes Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 I hate getting rid of appliances that still works. My television is an older model Sony cathode ray tube, which works perfectly fine. Friends tell me I should replace it with a more modern flat screen television. The remote may need replacement because all the numbers have worn off. It's the same with our electric rice cooker. We purchased it 20 years ago and it still cooks rice. The newer models have electronics that allow you to screw up twenty different ways. My old model rice cooker requires I press down a lever when ready. Everything else is magic.

I take it your a china man due to your comments ,in case you have,nt noticed nearly everything we use today is made in china which mass produces cheap crap that don,t last as in the oldin days .china is to blame for many lost jobs in the u.k due to cheap imports of electrical stuff .when we made our own electrical gadgets they lasted many many years and were worth repairing .it might be in bad taste to you but the truth often hurts my friend ,and when the chinese labour charges catches up with the west then we are all in trouble .
Mike S Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Well the way I look at it we have choices ..... we have the Rolls Royce and we have the Kia ..... your choice ..... you can buy the Rolls for $400,000 0r the Kia for $18,000 the Rolls is much better made but on my salary I could never afford it so I would have to walk .... I can afford the Kia but it is made in an Asia country which makes cheap stuff .... so the decision is mine ..... walk or ride ........... you can buy what ever you can afford ..... so China has it's use in the market place ..... tools made in China are inferior to tools made by Snap-on USA.... if you can't afford Snap-on tools ya gots to buy Chinese ...... I hate to tell you this but that's the way it has been sense the world began ..... you can only buy what you can afford and no one forces you to do other wise ..... until it becomes that ALL goods are made by the Chinese I have no complaints ..... but that won't happen in my lifetime ........ :cheersty:
