TexasRangersFan Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Anyone know of a good Dermatologist in the Liloan area. Recently I have developed a rash on my legs and arms from something. I would like to find a good doctor who is knowledgeable and inexpensive.
TexasRangersFan Posted September 21, 2012 Author Posted September 21, 2012 UPDATE: I did not find a good Dermatologist or Doctor. I was able to find a lot of information on the internet about different types of rashes and their causes. I did not find much on the plant or insect life here in the Philippines. I did find one site that talked about some of the poisonous trees here in the philippines. I did not know that the smoke from them was so deadly. here is a link to the website http://mic-ro.com/plants/ It was interesting reading. I am allergic to insect bites. I guess thats an " As we get older" thing. We just moved into our new house when these rashes started. I found that there were 3 different types of rashes. The ones on my legs on the back of my calves and on my right knee were from spider bites. The rash on my forearms was from some plant outside the house. The rash on my shoulder and chest and above my elbows was from an allergic reaction to the varnish used on our bamboo furniture we just bought for our terrace. After finding out that it was all due to an allergic reactions, I took Benadryl ( that I brought from America) and Amoxocilin ( purchased at the local Rose Pharmacy here ) along with Mometasone Furdate cream applied to the effected areas of my skin. The very next day after having these rashes for almost 10 days they were almost gone. Today they are all completely gone except I can still barely see the one on my chest. What we found out is that there is very little information concerning plants and insect life here in the philippines.

i am bob Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 Remember what happens if you breath the smoke from when you burn Poison Ivy? Just about the same thing - DON'T TO IT!!! Don't know about the others but I would prefer to live! As for rashes from these plants? I know that one of the best things for Poison Ivy is, once again, organic Apple Cider Vinegar!!! My sister recently proved this - nothing else was working for her and that includes prescription medicines. With the AC vinegar, it was gone almost overnight! Hopefully it will work on those blasted plants in the Philippines too!
Call me bubba Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 We just moved into our new house when these rashes started. Moved into a new house and this happen? may i ask or inquire? did you look over the house before move in to see if their was any "bug",rats, or other insect issues? What has worked for me ,is before move-in I inspect the house, I spray when needed, and IF it really LOOKS bad,(meaning more than a few bugs) I will use an INSECT SMOKE BOMB . like the raid, this would fumagate the place and hopefully would rid the house of those little critters, about the VARNISH or new furniture. maybe a light wash or use a cover at 1st to keep the "varnish" off of you till you have adjusted to it. have you thought about using a blog on the Forum with photos of the PLANT that caused you this problem, so that others can be aware of it.. MOST of all, thank you for sharing with us  .on how you solved your medical issue.
i am bob Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 Are you sure it's the varnish? Somebody may have washed the furniture with a cleanser not meant for varnish and it may have saturated into the varnish. This is a more common problem for many people. Try taking a sponge and bucket of water and just keep washing the varnish part for about 20 minutes. After it is dry, see if it still affects you the same. If it does, it's the varnish. If it does not affect you any more or even if it is noticeably less, that was the problem.
