Forum Support Old55 Posted September 14, 2012 Forum Support Posted September 14, 2012 (edited) Whatever the Visayan Forum Foundation, Inc. is the news paper account is short of helpful facts (surprise) has to do with trafficking in Visayan's? http://www.philstar....bCategoryId=107 More information still makes little sense to me other than my tax money is likely stolen. http://www.sunstar.com.ph/cebu/local-news/2012/09/15/visayan-forum-betrayed-usaid-case-242912 Edited September 14, 2012 by Old55
i am bob Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 The VFFI is a non-profit group financially supported by several different foreign aid agencies. Their mandate is to provide services to low income domestic workers as well as to assist those affected by human trafficking. The whole uproar is the US (one of those supplying money) did an audit and a lot is missing or at least not accounted for. The VFFI is not happy because they apparently got caught with their hands in the cookie jar.
Mike S Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 Oooooooops ...... "and another one bites the dust" ...... geeeeee I can't imagine why they are upset because they didn't notify them first before going to the news media ..... after all they do deserve the right to lie and cover their tracks before the news media gets involved ...... if they "saved" 2000 under aged domestic helpers they must be living a good life if they were the recipient of $210 million US dollars ..... but I'm sure there is a logical explanation as to where ALL the funds are going ..... besides this will all die down in the news media as soon as something new comes along ..... like Imelda gets a new pair of shoes or something like that ...... and as usual they will NEVER go back to the original story so no one will find out the out come ...... but hey ..... that's the way it is here in the Phils ..... didn't someone say it was more fun here .... :mocking: .... :cheersty:
Brucewayne Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 They should follow the money trail every time they give our money away, it builds too many mansions and buys too many luxury cars. Too bad welfare in the USA isn't so generous with our money.
Call me bubba Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Good work to the US that started the investigtion. Let it be a warning that the Local government may turn a blind eye or after years of delays decide that its not worth to prosecute BUT.. the US will leave no stone unturned to seek justice (even locate those WMD :hystery: ) If I was a NGO obtaining Funds and wanted to "have a little extra"profit for my personal use. I would NOT dare to scam(F x xk ) with USA or its money .

sjp52 Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 For the life of me I can not figure out the thinking of the US government. They continue to give millions of dollars to these 3rd world CORRUPT countries when their own country continues to go down the tubes financially.

Actually, I read somewhere that it added up to about a billion dollars a year. The medical grant for free aid to the Philippine poor is between 450-500 million a year and if you add free surplus military aid plus equipment, it goes well over a billion a year.
JJReyes Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 This bunch of scammers are rather unsophisticated. They should take lessons from Pacific Islanders. First. All the documents are stored in a filmsy hut. After one typhoon, the excuse is, "The typhoon destroyed the hut and all the records." Computers and computer files are in kept in buildings near the shoreline, which floods easily from storm surges. There are tragic consequences to the corruption. During the last tsunami, the warning sirens failed to go off. It turns out the money from the US government to build the system went to buying SUVs for the officials and first birthday parties for their children. There was no money left to purchase and install the equipment. My host would point at beautiful hillside homes built with the compliments of Uncle Sam. The politicians give away billions of taxpayers dollars and their cronies in big business get contracts with aid receiving coubntries so that they can earn the dollars to pay for the politicians election costs.
