Americano Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 (edited) Dave, congratulations on the new member to your family. I glad everyone is doing fine. Its good to hear that you didn't pay from P100,000 to P200,000 like some foreigners have at hospitals in Cebu City. Paying that much for a normal birth is nothing but robbery. Jake you need to shave those hairy legs if you're going to be a baby again. Edited November 20, 2012 by Americano
Dave Hounddriver Posted November 20, 2012 Author Posted November 20, 2012 Mother and baby are home now. For some reason the baby needs 2 or 3 injections per day for 10 days so we either give the needle (yuchs not me) or get a local health clinic worker to come by the house and do it (most likely scenario) or bring baby to hospital for injections as required (that would be a pain in the ass) Not sure why they are all needed and its pointless to ask. I don't want to argue over whether they are all needed or not. Baby is fine and thats what counts. I am waiting for a week or so to go by to see what he really looks like. He still looks like an alien at the moment. All babies do when they first come out.
Thomas Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 Not sure why they are all needed and its pointless to ask. I don't want to argue over whether they are all needed or not. Baby is fine and thats what counts. Have you checked what it is? Then you can Google it. I am waiting for a week or so to go by to see what he really looks like. He still looks like an alien at the moment. All babies do when they first come out. Not odd most look like raisins or such after been in water for 9 months. All except Pisces babies. Not odd we Pisces handle water better :hystery: Actualy back when child product ads only used beautiful looking babies, then all them under 6 months old where Pisces as far as I know. (One of my sisters where a rather famous child photo model seen "everywhere" for a few years, but as teenager she didn't want to be at any photos at all :mocking: Her first baby son looked as a skinny Buddha, and her friend's baby looked as a crossbreed of a porcupine and a tomatoe (=dark red faced with long hair standing straight up in all directions.) Compared to them most babies look beautiful :) But most of them are cute anyway - as long as I don't need to change poo daipers :hystery:
Popular Post Markham Posted November 21, 2012 Popular Post Posted November 21, 2012 Mae joins me in sending our congratulations and best wishes to you and Dona! Don't worry too much about his appearance, ours looked like something the cat found and dragged in to the house! And yes, they do start the inoculation schedule very early in this country - and if he resembles a Kano, you'll likely be charged Kano prices for the injectables which can be up to 10 times the Filipino prices. You're a tall lad, like me, so the chances are high that your son will be also. That's all well and good but you will have a problem in finding clothes that will fit. Our son, now 17 months old, requires clothes that are designed for a 4 to 6 year old (Filipino) child. Our son's favourite "toy" is Mae's iPad and he will amuse himself quite happily playing games on it - but if Mae is watching TV and a certain Palmolive shampoo advertisement is broadcast, Hugh will stop what he's doing and start blowing kisses at the actress featured in that advert!!

It sounds like he knows what he wants already and he is in the right country for it. :mocking: Good to hear all is well with your son, Mark. The inoculation part is turning out to be a small problem. The local 'nurse' who administers the injections has to go to work at 6:30 am so Dona has to bring the baby there (just down the street a block) before then. So she does not tell me she wants to be woke up early. I am up early sitting with baby Owen so she can finally get some sleep and I have no intention of waking her, then she wakes up at 7 and it is , of course, too late. Its more fun in the Philippines. Oh well, he will get his injection sooner or later and he does not seem to be losing any sleep over it. Funny how babies sleep best when everyone else is awake. One more item that interested me. I had to take the registration of birth to the local municipal hall to be sure the birth was registered. The official there goes over everything with a fine tooth comb. He goes over my passport the same way. He asks to see my previous passport to examine that. I get interviewed like its for a job. Some of the things they want to know are how long we have been together and when we plan to get married and how we met and when we plan to take the baby overseas. The point of all that is, if anyone has been doing the 'under the table' visa renewals and then has a baby, you are gonna be royally screwed. Just one more reason to keep everything above board. (Those who live here will know there is pressure from peers and officials to get their visa through corrupt means. I have never done that and I am now glad I stuck to my principals).
