as the title says what do you pay for your heath cover and is it worth it, is there a cheaper way like pay as you go sort of thing, philhealth whats that like, but remember we are all going to die someday, what happens if say you fall and break your arm does philhealth cover that, what i am trying to say is you go to the doctors if there is such a thing you pay, then in a emergency you have to go to hospital you have insuance cover, is there such a thing that covers both

Yes, it's called Inpatient and Outpatient coverage. You can have both but it obviously costs more. Dr visits are, in general, much cheaper in the Philippines then the west so a lot of people elect inpatient only. Prices depend on your age and the many available options you choose. Best to read the brochures carefully and address questions directly to the company or agent.

Philhealth is basically a IN-Patient coverage. PERIOD they now cover some out-patient TREATMENT but..... for more info please check out the previous posts that have been made on "insurance"/healthcare

and the www.philhealth.gov.ph site

Yes there is insurance cover here like that, choice of a "HMO" which is zero or near zero cash outlay

or insurance like Cartas health,HMI, I care. even blue cross if you can budget for that.

SOME MEMBERS OF THIS FORUM self insure.

consider that option, and be aware(warned) ,

YOU Must have $$$$ money when you come/enter the hospital

(at least your philhealth card/coverage (MDR form) may suffice at some places. I say MAY suffice)

Inquire on this insurance firm, they seem to offer a good product, yet they dont ever answer e-mails, I had to personally visit their office to get any real info

Philhealth is 200p monthly .althou you will need to be covered X number of months before they may pay on certain conditions,

you will need to pay either quarterly. semi-annually or yearly,

very few pay monthly as it can create a "paperwork" headache when they need to verify your contributions

steve you and emma are best to take out phil health as a basic cover to start with i think its around 200 pesos amonth each .At least you won,t have to fork out any cash straight away if anything happens .most other health care options mean you have to pay the bill yourself in cash then claim the costs later from the health insurance.
