on one of our trips to the north of manila we came across these new toyotas, just like new jeepneys they was but the backs had windows all down the side and a big back door, they looked really good, infact they would look good converted into a motorhome just for touring all over the phils, anyone seen them before

I haven't seen what you saw but I have always thought I would like to have a traditional jeepney for touring.

Your desciption - except "new" - suit "Toyota Other MT" * which some call "jeepney", but I suppose you DON'T mean them :)

*=New body full/partly made by stainless steel, on which they mount used Toyota parts. Several different versions, but mostly they have a fiberglass or canvas yop, but open at the sides.

I like them (covered at sides too), much depending of they are stainless, but I wouldn't call them "new".
