 This is a very serious post by me....... While I can tolerate the ants, I hate the roaches, and the rats and the mice are definitely a health hazard IMM........ Is it just me or is there something that I am missing here........ th_fluch.gif It sure seems to me that bugs, ants, mice and rats seem to be tolerated by many Filipinos........ I have seen Filipinos side step a big roach on the street or in a supermarket, and mice, rats and roaches running around in restaurants and supermarkets here and it seems that no one tries to kill them off.......Is it that bug spray and traps cost too much? Or is it like in some countries where it is against their culture or religion to kill any living thing? I just do not understand it??? I was in Robinsons supermarket the other day and the roaches were running around all over the floor and under a display, and the kids that work there were stocking the shelves oblivious to the roaches presence.........I was there a few weeks ago and a pretty big rat ran by me and this is in the daytimes when there is a lot of people and noise and they all are supposed to be hiding.......I can only imagine how many there are running around during the time the place is closed, it probably looks like a horror show...... :th_goodidea: So why the hell is that???? Have I been mislead my whole life when the health organization say that roaches and rodents carry diseases? :7_4_17[1]:

I have noticed many Filipinos to be very reluctant to kill anything. A few Filipinos will kill anything and enjoy doing so.I don

I'm with you MR. LEE AS i grew up on a farm and we never had any of those critters in our home and the cats took care of everything in our barn. I stayed in a hotel in manila and a big ole rat ran under the front desk and I told the lady and she didn't even bat an eye! differant strokes for differant folks!!!

I hate to say it but I am quite sure that a lot of those end up in some of the food here, since they seem to be so plentiful here. SugarwareZ-047.gif :th_goodidea:

My guess is that because there are so many of them critters and almost impossible to eradicate that people get used to them and don't worry about it.I often wonder about the storage areas of supermarkets in the Philippines, for example if you ever go down that street that runs besides Country Mall where the loading area is for the supermarket ,it stinks and the scraps in the bins and on the ground are a health hazard. What it is like behind the doors who knows. :wt-hell:

My father inlaw caught a rat in his trap, and killed it by pouring boiling water over it, I didnt like hearing the rat scream and told him their must be a better way to kill them,Next time he caught one i asked him to take it up the road and release it, As he went up the road with the rat he gave a whistle and a dozen cats came out of nowhere, then he let the rat free and it got ripped to pieces, he looked upon it as just feeding the cats.
