Good day to you Marshall,

Thank you for your reply and encouraging remarks.I have a question to do with flight tickets that i am unclear about!Yes,i will be comeing there with the intention of staying under the visa extension scheme!I am told that when i visit there for 21 days that i must have a return flight ticket!I have no problem with that, but what i dont understand is this,if i have the required return flight ticket but hopefully begin to get my visa extensions ok,and carry on staying there for the rest of my life, what happens to the return flight ticket that i have paid for if i am not coming back here to Holland anymore,do i lose that ticket and has that ticket then been bought for nothing and the money wasted?

I would really be greatful if maybe you can enlighten me on this matter to make it clear for me,Best regards Robin,Holland.

I moved your question to the "Travel and Visa Information" category. The requirement is for an onward ticket to another country, it doesn't have to be a return to your native country, it can also be by boat. There are options such as buying a cheap "throwaway" ticket or buying a refundable round trip ticket. There's a lot of discussion and information about this under this category.

Your ticket is NOT WASTED, you have proof of on ward bound travel.

perhaps have a 6-9-11 month return back to your home country.

Life in paradise is not always that good. who knows what may or could occur, better be safe than :boohoo:

Hello Pittman Apartments Sgn,

Thank you kindly for your help over the flight ticket issue.I now understand that i can have an ongoing ticket to somewhere else, and that i dont have to return to Holland thank god!So what i would like to know if you can possibly tell me is,what do i do and what do i ask for when booking my ticket?I intend to fly to Cebu,so do i ask for a single ticket to cebu?and when i have been through the usual customs routine do i then say go to one of the airlines there and book a ticket to say Hong kong for 16 months in the future after hopefully getting extensions up to that 16 month period when i then have to leave Phil for the mandatory 24 hours? Also who is it that wants to see that i have an ongoing ticket,is it the customs,or the Immigration for when i apply for a visa extension or both?

Thank you for your help so far, kind regarda Robin..Holland.

Buy your one way ticket to Cebu,,, at the same time buy a ticket you will never use, check TigerAir or Air Asia usually you can get a ticket from Clark Philippines to Malaysa for around $20 to $30 USD usually the airline will wan't to see your onward ticket, and maybe at customs, after that your home free.

"throwaway ticket" just mean it's bought MENT TO be thrown away (=wasted) never be used, other than to not be stoped from flying TO and be let into the Philppines, because they demand you have a leaving ticket (as long as you don't have permanent stay permit, which you can't get yet).

You have to have and bring any leave ticket, when you START the travel to the Phillipines, because otherwice you risk to be stoped, wasting the EXPENSIVE ticket there, because if the Philippines don't let you in, the flight company risk to have to pay your return, which they don't want, so they will stop you from ENTER the flight to the Philippines.

The alternatives are as it's told:

/a return ticket to Holland sometimes in the future, when you plan to go there anyway. Or buy a return ticket, which has changeable date. (More expensive.)

/or buy a "throwaway ticket" cheap, because it's ment to be wasted. Cheapest I believe is a BOAT ticket to HongKong or Malaysia, but I believe they are hard to get from Holland. So the common is buying a cheap flight ticket e g as others told you above..

/a third alternative is to buy a REFUNDABLE ticket, but they normaly cost that much more than others, so no point :) (except perhaps if you are CLOSE TO sure when you will go back to Holland, but not want to riisk it's wasted if you change your mind or have to change date.)

HI Robin!

If you go to the main page (the Forum tab) and go down to Travel and Visa Information, you will find lots of previous posts on this and other great information that will help you understand the onward ticket questions.

Enjoy!
