Popular Post Mike S Posted December 25, 2012 Popular Post Posted December 25, 2012 Well we enjoyed Bacolod immensely during our 9 days there ..... I'm sure like everywhere else there are some bad points but to be honest after living in Cebu City for 5 years we really didn't find any ..... the people are much quieter and in my opinion friendlier .... the city seems cleaner and the traffic runs much much smoother .... of course during morning and evening rush hour it can be a bit crowded but nothing like here in Cebu City ..... Prices seem comparable as far as food and restaurants go ... taxi's are the same as are jeepney's .... housing can be a hit and miss proposition with p10,000-p12,000 being the by-word for a 2-3 bedroom house in any condition (we didn't look at any apartments) there are no classified adds there either in the local newspaper or internet so everything is either through a agent or word of mouth ........ word of mouth doesn't seem to work very well as we spent one whole day in La Carlota chasing down word of mouth leads from people in the area with not on good lead but managed to put 189k on the car just driving around sub-divisions ...... Food is delicious and you can tell the difference in the local flavor compared to here in Cebu .... I did notice the lack of lechon there which can be found on every corner here ..... manok seems to be their specialty there and I had some of the best actually grilled manok at Chicken Deli that I have had in 20 years .... we went there twice during our stay .... it was actually grilled and not barbecued like all the manok I've had (except fried) here ..... I had the barbecued manok here in Cebu as it just about all tastes the same .... I think they just use banana ketchup with sugar added and tons of salt .... one thing about the townhouse I can fire up my own grill when we get there .... that will be a treat .... We found a really nice bed and breakfast to stay in ..... but some wouldn't like it as it is nothing fancy and we had a fan room for p500 per day with a 5% discount for stay's over 2 days ..... free breakfast for the fan rooms is 2 pieces of Texas toast (yup ... I did say Texas toast) and brewed coffee ..... aircon rooms get full breakfast ..... meals were cheap but typical Filipino style .... and so we ate out for lunch and dinner ..... the place is with in walking distance of about 10 eating places .... most are fast food like Mcdoo .... pizza places .... Jollibee .... KFC and a Pancakehouse ..... there were other places but no fancy restaurants .... the only high class restaurant (for me that is) we ate in was Pendy's .... the steak I ordered was p500 and unfortunately I forgot to tell them no salt and it came back Filipino style .... it made my teeth gnash ..... :28: OK here are some pictures of the place and their price list ..... more reports later as these damn bubbles are driving me craze ..... but that is a short trip ..... :christmas_emoticons_187: Bed & Breakfast 001.bmp This is like the room we had but this one has 3 beds ..... another room has 4 beds and two of the rooms have 2 beds each .... these are in the main building which is an old converted house .... these rooms are all fan rooms and upstairs .... downstairs are some more but we didn't see them .... I have more pictures which I will show later

Classic Dry Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 (edited) Well, gotta tell you Mike, you could fit lil' ole Texas into Western Australia 3 times and still have a piece of land left half the size of Texas ! Texas Toast ! ! ! Why, when we make a sandwich, we just cut the damned loaf in half, and shovel the filling between the 2 halves ! Anyway they're all poofters in Texas. :mocking: Incidentally, its quite warm here just now and in a few days it's going to be 110 degrees F. And they are thinking of calling it a heat wave !!!
