My Missus has just told me about the rape of a 6 year old little girl, Who was raped by 12 guys in the Philippines, Sadly the little girl died, Probably due to internal bleeding, As far as I could make out, They have the 12 in custody.

Has anybody else heard of this.

Does your Missus know where in the Philippines the rape occurred? I see a lot of horrible crimes on TV News and in the papers but haven't seen that one yet. The large number of 12 guys makes this story unbelievable to me. Reports of rape are very common here and it doesn't matter how young the girls are but I never heard of that many rapists.

I have looked Brock but I cannot find any information on it. If it is true it is very sad, just the recent cases in India.

I almost forgot about that - there was one in India similar to that. Also one similar in Afghanistan around the time the other girl was shot (the Nobel Prize nominee or something like that) but I think that one may be too far away to be the one your wife heard about. So it probably was the one in India she heard about. Sad sad stories coming out of there now.

She said it was in the news the other night and up near Manila.

The rape in India was a woman not a Child.

About 3 days after the woman was raped in India, there was another report concerning several more women being gang raped including a young girl who also killed after. Her rapists were all arrested that day and there hasn't been much in the more news.

I went through the Inquirer and the Star using a search and could find nothing on any rapes to match what you were asking about.

Will see if I can find out.

I have just read about an English guy on death row but was found innocent by a higher court.

On his release, the Immigration Commissioner ordered that he was required to pay fees and fines to the Bureau of Immigration for overstaying on his tourist visa (he was in jail on death row during the entire period of his overstay). He was forced to pay before being allowed to leave the country.

How can they be so stupid.

It's death penalty for such crimes, if found guilty.

Found innocent, or not proven guilty? No difference in verdict, but it's a big difference.

Well. Kind of stupid, but IF he is guilty, but not proven guilty, then it was a very low punishment anyway.

When someone is found not guilty, it can mean one of 2 things - either there is no evidence or not enough evidence to say he is the one who committed the crime - or that he is innocent. The terms are interchangeable. It's what the judge will say for his evaluation and summation prior to announcing the results that will show why the verdict has been reached. Of course there is always the obvious times when nothing needs to be said - like somebody else blurts out in court that they are the guilty party.
