Us Navy Ship Stuck On Coral Reef In Philippines

The Captain for sure and then the rest I imagine will depend on the investigation and who else is deemed at fault. He with the Conn and the Captain will always be in deep.

I got to sit in the Big Chair once when I was yachting with the Navy. I was on one of our old steamers that, in an average sea state would come out of the water quite nicely with every wave. I had to cross to the hanger and the only safe (?) way to do it was from the bridge while wearing a harness. And of course we were in a Cat 5 Hurricane like usual with an overdeveloped Sea State so the greenies were actually going over the hanger and not just the Flight Deck. While I was on the Bridge still, the ship took a twist, another twist and several deep shudders -just like we use to do in aircraft to simulate weightlessness - and everybody on the bridge were pretty well down spewing forth their compliments to the chefs in the galley. There was just me, the young kid with his hands on the wheel and the XO. The XO glanced at me and gushed out "Master Seaman, you have the Conn" before he vomited into his trash can for the next few minutes. Yup! I figure about 1 and a half minutes in command of a good Naval Destroyer. Not bad for a guy who joined the Air Force. hehe!

And, so I don't go off topic, I did not hit anything but water!
