jkim248 Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 At Scotty's My wife and I did 2 tank boat dives. But we didn't have ANY gear so cost of 4 boat dives. $70+ each? + 12% VAT, 2 sets of full equipment including wetsuit + 12% VAT. I don't remember exact price but you can call them up and ask. Phone:+(63 32) 231-0288+(63 32) 231-5060+(63 32) 231-5061 It's really high resort price plus that VAT! If they were like 50% more expensive, I would prefer to dive with them. But at 100+% higher, No can do. I did notice that the pools are not heated, so it's colder than the sea. A negative considering how much the room cost, plus full occupancy. But they have a nice marine reserve in front of their resort. Anybody dive with other shops? Like Feel Deep, KI Marine Dive shop, or shops without web presence. (Google presence) like National Geographic Dive, or other small shops? Maybe I should make it a project. Find and get price/figures on all the dive shops. (Plus pictures of their shop and boat.) Like a review. Can't believe there is no reviews of dive shops here considering how many shops there are here. only thing is: I have so many projects going on... It's almost like working! :-)) Side topic: Anybody have any luck finding GoPro Hero3 BLACK edition? (Not the silver, which has same resolution as the Hero2) for underwater pictures and videos?
jkim248 Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Oh, I found the price for Scotty's 1 tank dive is 3100 peso + 12% VAT 2 tank dive is 4950 peso + 12% VAT Gear is 1800 peso + 12% VAT So total for me and my wife should have been (4950+1800) * 2 * 1.12 for VAT = 15100 peso, 15100 / 40.6 = $372.41. Hmm, I remember $700. Did I do the math wrong? We went and dove, came back to shop and went out again. Wonder if they charged us 4 single tank dives... Or different price for resort guest? Going to go check my old receipt from Shangri-La. Kontiki is: $30 / boat dive, $25 / shore dive. $4 per dive for equipment rental. (BCD + Regulator) I'll check other dive shops also.

I'll update on any diving I do in Subic. I'm not expecting much here but I will give it a try.

That is more like it! I would hope that if you find a dive outfit you like and want to dive there a lot, maybe they will give you a discount??? Or perhaps they offer a 10 dive card or something like that?

I have posted several times at least over the years to do with dive outfitters and guides here please do a search. Honestly IMO there is no good diving near Metro Cebu City. Moalboal is more or less a two hour drive and hosts many many reputable dive centers and world class diving. Did you check out any of the dive centers suggested in earlier messages?
jkim248 Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 I thought the question was regarding PADI certification in Mactan, Cebu City area. Didn't realize it was for all of Cebu island. I've also been talking to / curious about the Korean operations. You see boat loads of them going to the Marine sanctuary all the time. They offer PADI instructions also but if all this has been covered in previous posts, My bad. I won't waste any more bandwidth.
tohopko Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 I certified NAUI many centuries ago. Are there any NAUI dice shops on CEBU?
Forum Support Old55 Posted July 29, 2015 Forum Support Posted July 29, 2015 Yes, several. I am PADI but have seen NAUI dive shops and dive operations in Cebu, Leyte and Bohol.
Tukaram (Tim) Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 I wonder where do the locals get certified - the prices I have seen posted around town are crazy high. I only paid $140 USD for my open water cert in Texas. The only prices I have seen here are obviously tourist prices.... :tiphat:
Forum Support Old55 Posted July 29, 2015 Forum Support Posted July 29, 2015 (edited) My son got his open water PADI in Moalboal for 3000 Peso five years ago. It was from Nelsons dive the only Filipino owned dive shop in Cebu. The instructor was his son in law a young Australian. What are the prices now?
