Forum Support Old55 Posted June 1, 2013 Forum Support Posted June 1, 2013 New stats on infection rates are disturbing. One would hope there is a plan in place to tackle this trend before it gets out of control. "A total of 388 new cases of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) were discovered nationwide in April alone, or 13 HIV-infected individuals per day, a party-list lawmaker said yesterday. The Philippines is one of seven countries in the world struggling to cope with rapidly increasing new HIV infections. Bruce Posted June 1, 2013 Author Posted June 1, 2013 I do not believe it is really an increase. More likely it is simply better reporting and perhaps a different directive from the government to stop hiding or ignoring the stats. It was quite apparent that the stats offered by the government in past years did not mesh with the rest of the world and it looked like the government was in denial or at least lying. Catholic church influence???
Forum Support Old55 Posted June 1, 2013 Forum Support Posted June 1, 2013 I agree Bruce. The government sees no incentive for an accurate honest reporting.
i am bob Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 And the You-Know-Who are against any law that educates on this as well as allows for condoms?
earthdome Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 If you go into almost any 7-11 store you will see cigarettes and condoms behind the counter. I recently found out that stores within a certain distance of schools can't sell cigarettes. I wonder if that same law applies to condoms as well. Bruce Posted June 2, 2013 Author Posted June 2, 2013 (edited) If you go into almost any 7-11 store you will see cigarettes and condoms behind the counter. And a bit of good travel advice comes from Jake, always on the look out to help an expat........ They do not sell Magnum condoms in the Philippines...... So, if you never knew that each condom has a serial number, this advice does not apply to you. :th_unfair: But.... just sayin'...... if you did know about the condom serial number... then you might want to bring a supply of magnum sized condoms with you.... :hystery: :attention: :999: :cheersty: Edited June 2, 2013 by Bruce
