Bruce Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Globalport owner Mikee Romero MANILA, Philippines – Stressing a player should be a good role model for the youth, Globalport owner Mikee Romero ordered today the dismissal of their import Walter Sharpe for his embarrassing stunt early Monday morning, captured on a picture drunk and sleeping on a parking lot in Pasig. “Walter Sharpe should have been more responsible for his actions. Based on what I saw, I recommended to the management and coaching staff the termination of Sharpe’s services effective immediately for conduct unbecoming of a professional basketball player,” said Romero. Insisting that any player, be a local or an import, should be a good role model for the Filipinos, Romero said they’re sacking Sharpe even as they may play with an all-Filipino crew against Air21 Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Romero said they might not be able to bring in an import immediately as they didn’t expect this thing to happen. At 2-7, the Batang Pier must get going quickly to avoid another early elimination. The new ball club finished dead last in the last Philippine Cup with a 1-13 slate ******************************************** Well I kinda like it! Makes me feel 'sporty'. Special. Hey.... Can we get the wives to start referring to us as their 'import'? 'Hi! I am Jinky and this is my Import, Bill.' Sort of sounds the a status symbol. Rather than marry some domestic Pinoy... she IMPORTED a husband..... Oh yeah... I can see the TEE shirts for sale now.
i am bob Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I"ve been using that term for people of the foreign persuasion since the early 80's... And I will be proud to finally be the Import! After all, Import comes from the word Important, right? :mocking:
Mike S Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Well kinda makes it more simple ..... you have the Pinoy who go abroad or OFW as the exports and the foreigners who come to the Phils as the imports ...... and those that live here as the stay-ins ..... now the news media won't have to think as hard when referring to people associated with the Philippines ..... you only have 3 classes ...... exports ... imports and stay-ins ..... maybe they will make less mistakes now ...... :hystery: :hystery: :cheersty:

Bruce Posted March 20, 2013 Author Posted March 20, 2013 Doesnt kano come from Americano? Not all inclusive. What about Aussies, Kiwis, Europeans etc? What about Dirty Old bast---s? (Canadians are etc - my apologies to Bob) Yes and no...... You are thinking like a Kano where 'we' have many different labels for other people. Your vocabulary is much biger than the average Pinoys. So over the years since WWII, the Pinoy has equated the white man as a Kano and Kano has been reduced into a generic term for the white guy in the room. The term Import also is generic and covers us all.
