Mike S Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Fine the Foreigners for having a fraudulent marriage? Of coarse you big silly ..... come-on you know it was their fault for the whole thing being illegal .... and how much do you think they will get from the Filipinos as apposed to the Foreigners ..... :hystery: :hystery: :hystery: ...... that's why it costs 5 times as much for the foreigners to take the marriage classes (I know in Cebu but not sure of other places) ..... and they only have one class out of 5 that is actually in English ..... the rest in Tagalog ..... so I napped through the whole thing except the legal part (which was in English) and I thought I better pay attention there ..... :hystery: :hystery: :cheersty:

Markham Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 “The actions of the judges have raised a very alarming issue regarding the validity of the marriages they solemnized, since they did not follow the proper procedure or check the required documents and qualifications,” the SC said. Under the law, a marriage solemnized without a marriage license is void. Well this puts me in an unknown state. I got married by one of those judges which was arranged by a Cebu tour business at the time which is no longer operating and the owner has now fled living in Cambodia. If I remember correctly we applied for the licence but did not wait the 10 days as I had limited time in the Philippines. The date we got married is not the same as on the marriage certificate. At the time I had limited knowledge of the procedures or time so hired someone to take care of it all for me but maybe it will bite us on the bum now. :89: marriage.jpg If it's any comfort, a quite prominent Cebuan lawyer's son was married by one of the now disgraced Judges and he is investigating whether that marriage is legal. I am sure the press here will be printing other similar accounts so you may find out one way or t'other quite soon. Arguably neither you nor your wife should be held accountable. You employed the rotund gentleman in good faith to organise your nuptials since he was "on the ground" and offered his expertise. You simply paid his fee and assumed everything was in order and completely legitimate. If anyone should be culpable, it's that fugitive from justice - a marque he has earned more recently, I should add!

But to answer your question, quite a lot as me and the gang of seniors would expect to be partying in Business Class - at your expense, of course! Then.... Bob's wedding ... or ... Niagra Falls .... wedding ... Falls. Oh I do hate tough decisions!
