Exactly. And in some food too. So why buy multivitamin pills??? :)

Mostly because you can't get ALL the Vitamins and minerals (minerals are just as important as the vitamins) in the foods you eat no matter how much you eat even if they are fresh fruits or not ..... and don't worry 9 out of 10 times you body will either absorb or flush out the excess vitamins or minerals it doesn't need .... we tend to be creatures of habit and eat the things we like over and over again and so miss out on a lot of vitamins and minerals ....

And so my friends here I stand before you with a bottle of Lydia Pinkhams Herbal Medicine in my hand ..... and I will sell it to you today for the paltry price of 2 bits .... yes my friends you herd it right just 2 bits ... yes for just 50 cents in good hard coin you can have the magic potion ......

Yea I know some of you already think I'm nuts .... but I did dig up one of the older bottles which were embossed back when I was collecting old bottles in the '70's .... anyway for those more interested here is some more an the famous Lydia Pinkham .... post-11-0-55753500-1367045645_thumb.jpg

Damn kids...... 2 bits is a quarter! Not 50 cents!

Just ask the divorced woman who was on trial for hitting her husband..... When asked why.... she said because he called me a 2 bit whore!

Well, what did you do then she was asked..... Why I hit him with my roll of quarters!

4 bits (1/2) is 50 cents and of course 8 bits is the whole coin.... Thank you Capt. Jack Sparrow and his pieces of 8.

Well. Yes, hard to get all Vitamins in just fruits, but can eat other things too, because ALL type of vitamins come from food  :)   (I mean all vitamins can be found in some type of food.)

(But I admit I eat some suplements too  :)   mainly Omega fish oils.)

hey Bob, getting of prescription chemicals can do you good I'm sure and using natural vitamins etc instead.

When I go to the Philippines I usually take a bottle of my favorite and top quality Blackmore's multivitamins Sustained release. I usually buy them after searching online for the "best price" and I can save up to 50% of normal shop prices. Ebay are also a good source. The reason why I have always used this brand as I studied vitamins in my early 20's and they had all the right doses in a mutli pill compared to my research plus they use natural ingredients. I have never found any other vitamins as good since although there might be some brands available these days that compare. I strongly believe that vitamins should be about QUALITY, not quantity or price. I would be wary of some of the products sold in the Philippines but there may be good brands but you should research any vitamins you plan to use regularly.

Also, don't forget you can get a lot of cheap and really vitamin rich fruit there, some of the tropical fruit will have vitamins that your body has been looking for all your life in them ;)

I fully and readily agree - the best way to get your nutrients is through eating a proper and correct nutrient rich diet...  And, no, that does not mean eating Candy...   :tiphat:   (Just for you Jake!)

But sometimes we need a little bit more nutrients - or even possibly have some part of our body require something special.  And that is where the extras come in.  And the best way to achieve this for many of us is to take vitamins and supplements.  Just make sure that they are from natural source and not man-made versions - or full of other things that may harm us (sugars, chemicals, GMO modified, etc) to get the best results.

Also, guys, stay away from saw palmetto if you want to do boom-boom. Ask your lady if she wants you to take it and she will say: "Noooooooooooooo" Or ask Jake.

Hummmmmm ... interesting I've been taking it sense 1987 ..... with no ill effectsl what so ever ..... and never had a problem with my prostrate either ...... and I'm 67    ........ what is it supposed to do to you ..... adverse wise ...... :cheersty:

Some studies done back in the latter part of the last century suggested that one of the side effects of taking Saw Palmetto was that it would alter and/or reduce the amount of testosterone in your body and thus a man would not be able to "stand proudly and wave the flag", so to speak.  Furthermore, these studies went on to state that Saw Palmetto did nothing to assist the prostate.  The funny part of this is that (a) these studies were done by the pharmaceutical companies who all manufactured drugs for prostrate issues; and (b) there was no actual evidence that this was even happening - it was just a supposition on the part of the person writing.  Amazingly it was another study done by a large pharmaceutical company that started people looking at Saw Palmetto again when they wrote that they could find no evidence of any ill effects by Saw Palmetto and recommended that the company start studies on identifying what it was in Saw Palmetto that worked better than their products so that they could manufacture a synthetic version.  Of course that study was pulled from public view but it was out long enough that many copies were made and the company could not deny their findings.  The papers were re-written and resubmitted without the above information but it was just too late for them...  hehe!  By the way, if you Google Saw Palmetto and read the ones that are submitted my most health-related agencies, they will still say that Saw Palmetto is bad for you...  But look to see who is sponsoring these sites and all you ever find are, yes, the pharmaceutical companies.  The ones that aren't sponsored?  They all say it is beneficial.  Don't believe me?  Give it a try!  I thought I found a couple that were or looked like they were government run sites but, as I looked closer, I still found the connections to big business there.

I have found that they carry most vitamins here are branded ...... I take the Miltrium Multi-vitamins (which is also sold in the US) because it contains no iron (something men over 55 should avoid ...JMHO) and that is the only brand here that I have found that contains no iron ..... but then I had someone tell me once that they only sell medicine and supplements here that are out of date in the US or considered seconds ..... I find that extreemly hard to believe as it would take way to much time and effort to restamp all the bottles with current dates or repackage them ...... but what do I know ...... I'm also not a cornflake expert ...... :mocking: :cheersty:

It used to be an issue for both Canada and the US that the out-of-date and seconds in this market.  Now both countries have laws against this.  I found this interesting because this is the excuse the US government is giving to try and get charges against the Canadian Mail-Order Pharmacy companies.  The ones that plead or were found guilty was actually not for this charge but something different and had nothing to do with the quality of the company - except for one.  They were sourcing their meds from a chinese source and were all bogus.  What an idiot.

So - if you buy any meds, vitamins or supplements in the Philippines that were MADE in the US or Canada, the only reason for them to be out of date is because they sat in the store on the shelf for that long.

I always thought the Kirkland brand supplements sold by Costco in the US were good and good prices.  I have seen booths in malls that sell them but I don't know if they are fresh.  S&R carries Kirkland, right?  Maybe they have the supplements.

In any case, they are going to be way more expensive here.  Abby likes the Kirkland Vit E and I think it is like 3x the price here.  I stocked up on everything before I left and I will probably try to keep buying in the US if possible.  The price diff alone on small items like this will pay for a BB box.

No matter what brand it is, always check to make sure the product is made from natural  source.  Most man-made versions really do not work well if at all.  Also check for fillers that are not bad for you...

Well it looks like I have a page or two of just comments by myself here - that is what happens when you can't get on for a couple days (other than my smartphone and I hate trying to type on that thing)...  So anyways, just one last thing I want to add here...

When I came off my meds, I was told that I was going to feel really lousy for a month or so.  And I did.  Remember when I said that Beta-Blockers would make a person bloated and fat?  When the last of the Beta-Blockers in my system wore off, I had the most severe pains in my abdomen.  For 3 days I felt like I was constipated while the opposite was true.  Even breathing hurt.  I called and spoke to a doctor and he told  me that the pains should be over soon.  And the morning that they finally ceased?  I had lost 1 1/2 inches from my waist.  This was my body in pain from trying to return to the former me before taking all those meds for 6+ years.  For 6 years it hurt trying to bend over enough to tie my shoes - my gut was rock hard and big.  Today I can tie my shoes and scratch the bottom of my feet.  I can turn at the waist again.  I haven't started on Hawthorn yet but I have been taking Co Q-10 for 2 days now (for my  heart)...  I jogged 3 miles this morning when I couldn't get past a fast walk for 6 years.

Will somebody tell me what good taking all those meds did for me?
