Mike S Posted May 9, 2013 Author Posted May 9, 2013 Now just to through another monkey wrench into the works .... it seems that some Acer Aspire 1's can be booted with a USB for what ever reason but I think his model ( D257) can I just have to make a boot-able flash drive using the "diskpart" command in the command line .... I know it is a bunch of steps to go through but I don't need another program on my computer for a onetime shot .... if you know what I mean .... now to find a clean Win 7 Starter from the 10 or so I found .... first one didn't work for me cause I forgot to disable my anti-virus and some files couldn't be downloaded (yes I know ... some people have just died of a heart-attack) but I have downloaded from this person numerous times in the past and those that know what "false-positives" are will understand .... sorry can't go into detail as it might conflict with Tom's board rules .... anyway onward and upward ... (I hope) .... :mocking: :mocking: :cheersty:
FlyAway Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 If the copy of Windows 7 you have is available as an ISO, then use the Microsoft tool to put it on a USB drive. I know you do not want to have things loaded on your PC but this one does not take up much space. http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msus/html/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool/ Here is a link to another download for the Windows 7 iso if needed. Digital River is a good source. http://msft-dnl.digitalrivercontent.net/msvista/pub/X15-65804/X15-65804.iso Mike, we will turn you into a PC tech or drive you crazy! Welcome to our world of "why did they do it like that"?

Mike S Posted May 11, 2013 Author Posted May 11, 2013 (edited) No problem sir ...... I wonder why me ol' shipmate hasn't made a comment about my new signature ..... I thought he would get a kick out of that .... probably one of the truest statements I have heard in a very long time ..... :tiphat: Edited May 11, 2013 by Mike S
Jake Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Ol' Navy saying -- The hand that wanks the captain ..... steers the ship I found this topic very intriguing on how you guys have the patience, time and effort to fix problems that I would normally give up on the first day. As a senior ET, software related problems is NOT my cup of tea. Anything beyond a reboot, a restore or running a virus scan, Judy takes over and fixes the problem (lockup or freeze) in no time flat. She warned me again not to visit this porn site called Deb-Deb Does Manila.....he, he. Regarding Mike S latest signature above, I was a certified conning officer on both frigates and missile cruisers. The last captain was being facetious when he asked me this one last question to qualify: ship's emergency procedures when a nuke surface burst detonates off the port bow. I failed with this answer -- spread my legs, bend over and kiss my ass good-bye! Still wankin' -- Jake
