Can't speak for your wife so you'll have to answer that.

Well have seen the bills and think I posted it once but have read on other forums before that bills are itemized. As for your friend, sorry to hear he can not answer but if you do get to meet up again send some sort of sign, ok. (Insert twilight zone music here)  :)

Well, we have now settled on South Gen Hospital Naga for the birth of our child.

I was impressed with the hospital and the gynecologist we saw was extremely professional. Mrs Bundy was given a complete examination, blood tests were ordered without us saying anything. The doctor was just a little concerned at the size of Mrs Bundy's tummy and wants an ultrasound so she can see what's going on. She said it may just be that "your baby is a little big because your husband is a big man"  or " it could also be that the baby is in lots of water, in any case i need to know"

Mrs Bundy was thrilled to hear the baby's heartbeat (the doctor used a doppler to do this) she also told us that the baby is very strong and healthy.

It may cost us a little more at this hospital but my wife is 42 and this will be her first baby so she should most definitely have a doctor and hospital that she is confident in.

could you share what they or the "minefield"consist of?

I was immediately "turned off" at Chong Hua when one of the first requirements they asked us for was a current bank statement! Maybe it's just me but i thought that's pretty bloody rude.

I've had a lot of dealings with this place before when the father-in-law was still alive and to me it seems that you need very deep pockets if you want to go here.

It almost seems like they are trying to quiz you on how much money youv'e got so they know how much they can gouge out of you!

So if you only show a statement of say p10,000 would they refuse you treatment ????? ..... interesting ..... for those of us from the US they would probably want to see out dollar account as that is they way most of us from there handle our monthly expenses ..... you're right .... bloody rude and totally unnecessary ...... maybe you should ask to see their bank statement on the possibility they could go bankrupt before you are released ...... :hystery: :hystery: :hystery: :cheersty:

If your prenatal dr is on staff at Chong Hua you don't have to jump through any hoops or produce any bank statement. You just go to the 2nd fl delivery area when she's in labor and they will take her inside. No one else is allowed. They give you paperwork and you go to pre-admissions and they fill out papers and ask you to make a p10k deposit with the cashier. You also inform them if you have PhilHealth. After you pay the deposit you go back to Admissions and choose which room you want - 1k/2k/3k per night, I went with the middle. They give you paperwork and you give it to the delivery area nurse then go to the room and wait. They will call you. They do this every day and night, it's very straightforward. They are EXTREMELY careful about who goes in the nursery.

The main thing, imo, is your confidence and comfort level with the doctor. It sounds like you're in good shape.
